This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Project Manager/Lead Engineer for our Glastonbury, Connecticut office. Be involved in regional, multi-year transportation projects with our Civil Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges. 

The role involves serving as key leader for a major transportation program management assignment. The successful candidate will possess extensive project management experience, with a demonstrated track record of successful project delivery, and versatility to oversee and manage supporting staff while providing responsive and proactive service to our clients.

Provide leadership to ensure  infrastructure projects and programs are delivered with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, and functionality.  Responsible for subject matter expertise, innovation and administration, ensuring corporate compliance with all Local, State, and Federal engineering, construction, and safety regulations, and providing strategic and consistent direction to address current and future challenges in a large-scale and multi-faceted business organization.

Your Impact

  • Manage and oversee the work of large multi-discipline design and\or program management teams.
  • Routinely interface with traditional Owner clients, or other alternative delivery clients, and other project stakeholders, and sub-consultants for coordinated project/program delivery.
  • Coordinate with project teams to deliver within budget and schedule, while fully complying with quality protocols and objectives. Accountable for the profitable project performance and the successful completion of the projects.
  • Assist in business development activities to identify, track and position the firm for upcoming opportunities. Assist with proposal preparation, interviews and maintaining regular client contact.
  • Participate in technical aspects of contract negotiation, presentations, and meetings.
  • Drive compliance and accountability-at-all-levels with applicable Federal, State, and Local engineering/design/construction laws, codes, policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide leadership to multi-disciplinary project teams and contribute to providing high level strategic advice to clients.
  • Provide performance guidance and proactive leadership to assigned managers and staff.
  • Remain current in latest discipline-specific techniques, practices and design standards.
  • Collaborate with professionals from a variety of disciplines to provide future ready solutions for clients.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree of Science in Civil, Structural or engineering related discipline or Construction Management.
  • Minimum 7 years of project management/construction engineering experience.
  • Connecticut Professional Engineer license or ability to acquire the same within 6 months (multi-state preferred).
  • Experience managing tasks on large, multi-discipline design and\or program management teams
  • Experience with transportation or transit projects.
  • Experience with project budgeting and scheduling, construction staging/sequencing as well as state and federal permitting is desired.
  • Familiarity with Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) adminstrative policies/practices and design standards.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to facilitate meetings with clients and stakeholders, manage staff, and effectively interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
