Microsoft Entra is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our team and help tackle some of our most complex problems – our Routing team, of which you would be a part, is charged to increase availability of mission-critical services, building better software to serve over 1B humans globally. Are you passionate about distributed systems, and how to build and run them at extreme scale? Are you curious, a learner, someone who wants to grow in the craft of software engineering? You will work on some lynchpin services in Microsoft Entra, e.g. traffic management, runtime platform (K8s) or livesite management. These services process millions of requests per second, powering hundreds of billions of authentications per day, and with challenging availability targets (>99.99%).

Responsibilities

  • You will be part of the team shipping critical software quickly and safely. This is a hands-on role, you will need to be a team player, equally comfortable designing the better mousetrap, and rolling up your sleeves to ship the new mousetrap from whiteboard into production
  • Lead and provide technical direction for the design and development of features, experiences & solutions for end-to-end business scenarios
  • Mentor early in career team members professionally to help realize their full potential
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Engineering teams to build new features
  • Support highly available services used by millions of userson a daily basis
  • Work with support to triage and debug technical support requests
  • Analyze how your features are performing in production to learn and make the product better
  • Mentor, pair, participate in code reviews, and delegate work to encourage the professional and technical growth of those around you

 

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
               o OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
  • This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
               o OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
               o OR equivalent experience.
  • Expertise in  object-oriented language skills and experience in writing high-performance, thread-safe code that allows for serving requests in sub-millisecond times.
  • In depth knowledge of computer networking skills, understanding of newer protocols such as H2,
