Salary Range: $80,000 - $105,000

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Partnering with Engineering, Signal, Technology, Mechanical, and other capital budget teams to weigh in on capital vs operating determinations as well as capital project in-service timelines
- Create and review system rules for completed capital projects to settle to proper asset classes
- Analyzing and using critical thinking skills to determine source and cause of settlement variances and finding way to correct and prevent them
- Utilizing SQL to transition to SAP HANA views for reporting and analysis needs
- Ad-hoc projects to ensure accurate asset records and proper depreciation expense
- Handling ad-hoc capital spend or book value requests from Studies, Tax, and Cost teams
- Preparing annual and quarterly R-1, Form D, SOX control reports
- Preparing and analyzing depreciation studies, looking for automation opportunities
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Information Systems is required
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with BNSF Finance, the accounting/finance department of another company, or public accounting is required.
- Working knowledge of basic accounting and journal entries
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (intermediate level Microsoft Excel is required)
- Demonstrate an ability to learn SAP modules
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of SAP
- 3+ years of experience with BNSF Finance, the accounting/finance department of another company, or public accounting

Successful candidates should also demonstrate an ability to communicate and coordinate with different teams and at different levels across the organization.
