If successful, you will join ass part of our Sustainability & Climate Change team. We work in a wide variety of sectors, for both public and private clients, covering (in particular) highways, rail and other civil infrastructure, buildings, aviation, ports and marine, banking and investment, and organisational / ESG.
Your role would be to lead the preparation of proposals for, and work with others to deliver sustainable outcomes across these and other sectors, with the support of our carbon, climate resilience, circular economy and ESG technical staff. Having been trained in WSP’s systems and processes, you would be responsible for providing strategic advice and support to team members on the technical, commercial and contractual aspects of delivery, and liaising direct with clients to ensure successful outcomes.
Whilst the role is based in consultancy and the built environment, we would also welcome applications from those with relevant and transferable skills in other industries. The role would require transcend client identification and engagement, preparation of proposals, team management, project delivery, management of commercials, and other business development activities.
The role would involve significant collaboration and engagement with a wide variety of interesting and forward-thinking colleagues across our business and engagement with colleagues across Property, Buildings, Transportation, Infrastructure, Planning, Water, Energy and Industry would be required.
The role requires an ambitious, proactive and personable consultant, able to collaborate effectively, take on tasks with confidence and rigour, and manage a wide range of stimulating and high-profile sustainability projects.
- Taking a lead on integrating our Future Ready initiative into your work, and the work of others, and reporting quantified and qualified outcomes
- Working with your colleagues across Sustainability & Climate Change, and the wider business, to establish and deliver marketing and proposal opportunities
- Providing technical support, advice and approvals to a range of different sustainability consultants, at different grades in our team
- Supporting our team leadership in effectively managing operational, commercial and other business critical issues
- Preparing and submitting though leadership pieces and blogs to advance our presence in the market
- Identifying new areas of potential work and engagement, to help evolve and expand our capabilities and experience
- Experience of sustainability working in the built environment; particularly in the transportation, buildings, organisational / ESG and investment sectors
- A deep understanding of a wide range of sustainability topics, especially net zero, circular economy, climate resilience and adaptation.
- Proposal, project and programme management experience for public and private clients
- Commercial and operational acumen
- An excellent collaborator and motivator
- Client ready: able to present to, engage and successfully negotiate with internal and external contacts
Desirable
- Consultancy experience or similar
- Membership of relevant industry or cross-sector working groups
- Strong relationships with and contacts within the built environment and its value chain
