About the role
Under the direction and supervision of the Nurse Manager, and in accordance with Hospital and Department policies and procedures, perform registration, medical records handling, secretarial and receptionist duties. As necessary, schedules and registers procedures performed at the Surgery Center. Preoperatively prepares patient charts with appropriate documents; obtains test results, consults as requested by physicians/anesthesia providers. Maintains OR log in Meditech, and maintains endoscopy schedulein Endoworks electronic document system. Provides clerical support to department.
na Qualifications EDUCATION:
Preferred:
• AAS degree in Medical Office Assistant/Secretarial Science or experience in business with emphasis on healthcare or related field.
Minimum:
• High school education or equivalent
LICENSE:
PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS:
Minimum:
• BLS through RQI
• CPI within six months of hire into this position
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Minimum:
• Demonstrated PC and Windows proficiency and experience with other business office machines.
• Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with internal and external customers in a professional and courteous manner.
• Prior experience working in an office.
Preferred:
• Experience in Surgical Services, Admissions or related hospital/physician office environment.
• Experience with Microsoft Office products including word, excel and power point.
SKILLS:
Minimum:
• Demonstrates ability to deal with confidential information with discretion.
• Medical terminology knowledge.
• Demonstrates strong customer service skills, written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred:
• Meditech or other healthcare related database experience.
