Shift Details:  

Flexible Day shift hours - typically 6:30am start

Includes holidays and weekends

  • Instructing MLS students in urinalysis and chemistry
  • Rotating between MLS school and core rapid bench

Establish, perform, monitor, and evaluate the curriculum for one or more of the senior level courses in the division to ensure the smooth integration of program activities into laboratory workflow. Use comprehensive knowledge to accurately perform, evaluate, and teach highly complex laboratory testing/procedures in an efficient manner. Demonstrate behavioral skills that contribute to a productive work and learning environment and provide excellent customer service and high quality education of students throughout the organization. Support continuous quality improvement of laboratory services. 

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two years progressive successful experience in clinical laboratory medicine required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or Bachelor’s degree with specified number of science courses required for MLS certification.
  • Certified medical laboratory scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists MLS(ASCP),or  American Medical Technologist (AMT) required. Equivalent certifications include Medical Technologist (MT (ASCP)) OR Clinical Laboratory Scientist certified by the National Credentialing Agency (CLS (NCA)) prior to 2004 or International certification and qualification: International Medical Laboratory Scientist, MLS(ASCPi) required.
  • Individuals who were certified beginning January 1, 2004 maintaining their certification by participation in the ASCP ---Board of Certification (BOC) Certification Maintenance Program (ASCP)CM required.
  • Effective communication skills, initiative, teamwork, and flexibility required.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the desired teaching discipline (e.g. chemistry, hematology, microbiology or blood banking) preferred.
  • Master's degree in biology, microbiology, virology, molecular biology, or other laboratory related science preferred.
  • Familiarity with laboratory instrumentation, equipment, reagents, and kits preferred.
  • Familiarity with audio-visual equipment, library resources, and instructional media such as computer-assisted instruction modules and office equipment and supplies preferred.
  • Specialty certification by a nationally recognized certifying agency in assigned discipline preferred.
