Responsibilities

The Clinician Researcher – Clinical Documentation Improvement (CR-CDI) performs systematic review of clinical scientific literature pertaining to chronic and infectious diseases, data extraction from medical records, attribution of pathologies to ontologies that will be analyzed for incidence, prevalence, occurrence while ensuring the quality of the data. The CR-CDI will research into peer reviewed literature pertaining to the established diagnostic norms, incidence, prevalence, and occurrence rates to compare expected with the observed rates. He/She will serve as a resource person in drafting presentations and presenting same to staff on topical/selected diagnoses or conditions. The CR-CDI will also research into the applicability of ICD-10 criteria for patient’s conditions and provide updates on ICD-10 guideline changes to management. He/She will perform other duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

Required qualifications:

1. Medical Graduate2. Strong broad-based clinical knowledge and understanding of pathology/physiology of disease processes. 3. Clear understanding of process improvement concept4. Excellent written, verbal communication and critical thinking skills

 

Preferred qualifications:

1. ECFMG Certificate2. Prior research experience3. Working knowledge of ICD-10 coding structure4. A minimum of 1-year clinical experience in an acute care setting5. Certified Coding Specialist certification

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $28.00 to $48.00. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
