About the role

Essential Functions:

  • Credit Analysis
    • Supervise, train, and conduct one on one check ins and performance reviews for direct reports. Provides guidance, tools for critical thinking and coaching on preparation and analysis of the Credit Presentation.
    • Manage Credit department pipeline, distribute work to the team members to assure workload balanced and proper experience levels are assigned according to request complexity. Manage and move stale or stalled requests within the pipeline.
    • Work with AVP Business Credit to review all MBL analyses and write-ups prior to submission for approval.
    • Ensure Summit Credit Union lending policies are followed.
    • Collaborate with business lenders to evaluate overall risk and establish credit worthiness of business members, joining them in meeting with the member if necessary to gain insight and information. Prepare Credit Presentations for approval, assure proper approval authorities are met.
    • Provide recommendations to AVP Business Credit on loan structure and covenants.
  • Portfolio Monitoring
    • Work with business lenders and AVP Business Credit to complete renewals for existing credits.
    • Monitor internal and external reports on all portfolios for changing risk profiles and make recommendations for updates to credit worthiness guidelines.
    • Supervise and monitor assigned portfolios for annual reviews, insurance, tax and financial statement updates and risk rating.
  • Member service
    • Work with AVP Business Credit to identify opportunities to provide additional advice or information to business members through the underwriting process and share insights with the assigned business lender.
    • Consistently meet or exceed established turnaround times for completing analysis of new loans and those that are up for renewal.
    • Respond to staff and member inquiries received by phone or email, both directly and through our department help line.
  • Prepare reports related to workload, activities, and loan quality as requested. 
  • Encourage open and transparent and direct communication lines to anyone in the company that would benefit from knowing the information or insight. Communicate at all levels, sharing the why and translating back to our purpose and roadmap.
  • Coach, support, and create paths for employees to position themselves for the next position that aligns with their skills and experiences and accentuate their strengths.
  • Hold employees accountable for their work and how they accomplish their work in alignment with our mission, purpose, values, culture, essential behaviors.

Job Specifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or or combination of applicable work experience and education.
  • 3+ years’ of credit and risk experience. Commercial lending experience preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of laws and regulations that govern lending and accounting practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide direction and guidance to others.
  • Professional well developed interpersonal skills essential for interacting with credit union staff and members.
  • Excellent problem solving, team building, analytical, organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • In-depth mathematical skills required (calculations and concepts involving decimals, percentages, fractions, dividend, interest, payoff and equity calculations etc).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook and intermediate knowledge of Excel.
