Primary Duties:

 

The Director, Patient Supply Data & Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning (AI/ML) Platforms is responsible for driving and executing the data strategy for PSO. The PSO data strategy and data platform capabilities serve a critical role in all aspects of PSO operations ranging from manufacturing / engineering / quality / EHS operations, and manufacturing science and technology laboratories. Primary responsibilities of this role include

  • Lead all aspects of the PSO Data & AI/ML Platforms. Define the ambition, strategy, and on time in full delivery of solutions and services that result in measurable business value.
  • Actively partner with stakeholders across all PSO functions to understand their data needs and challenges and help define solutions, in line with overall data roadmap, to drive continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with manufacturing operations, process / process science engineering, and operational quality to define the data, analytics, and AI/ML solution requirements. Build, test, and run data products and services in a GxP environment.
  • Engage in cross-functional discussions, specifically the R&T Digital Systems and IT teams, to evolve the cloud data platform architecture, including OT / IT source systems, and data standards across the organization. Present practical input for strategic data platform technology decisions.
  • Establish and build collaborations with the peer data platforms organization across the Roche network to leverage existing capabilities and align data strategy where applicable.
  • Build strong relationships with the vendor ecosystem (Amazon Web Services, Architecture Component Suppliers, Strategic Delivery Partners) to understand current and future data engineering and AI/ML trends and build additional capabilities to deliver business value.
  • Define and manage the data platform budget, including capital investments and data platform operational budget plan, reporting, optimization.
  • Manage development of new contracts and adherence to existing contracts, and leverage Roche MSA and software licenses where applicable.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Strategy:

Provide vision, leadership, and direction for the overall PSO data strategy to ensure the new capabilities contribute to the company strategic goals. Develop a roadmap, business cases, and functional requirements for project execution. Evaluate technology concepts and designs to inform platform selection and validate business strategy aligned investment planning. Obtain stakeholder feedback and execute on governance to introduce new innovative technologies.

 

Execution:

Create and update delivery plans in a timely manner. Clear communication of project deliverable status, risks, and opportunities to stakeholders. On time in full delivery of milestones to ensure business objectives and value capture. Leverage agile development principles, in accordance with Corporate IT standards.

 

Leadership:

Manage team of contractors and third-party vendors to deliver on all project activities. Delegate responsibilities, provide oversight, and execute problem solving activities to build an accountable and effective delivery culture. Identify improvement opportunities to existing processes, equipment, and infrastructure.

 

Collaboration:

Build strong relationships with the external vendors and industry forums to understand trends and adjust capacity to deliver business value. Manage development of new contracts and adherence to existing contractual commitments.

 

Compliance:

Collaborate with Corporate IT to ensure all aspects of the software delivery lifecycle are executed in accordance with Spark IT principles, policies, and standards. Specifically, policies related to security, privacy, architecture, and operations.

 

 

Education and Experience Requirements

 

  • BS/MS/PhD in Computer science, or related engineering field.
  • Minimum 10 years (Minimum 5 with advanced degree) of experience in data engineering, cloud data platform architectures, and applied data science/analytics.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience leading the architecture of cloud, data, and software design.
  • Minimum 10 years of direct supervisory experience of technical professionals and staff with demonstrated effectiveness in providing guidance and coaching to deliver technology projects.
