We are seeking a Regional Public Policy specialist to spearhead our government engagement across West & Central Africa (WCA). This is a hands-on role at the intersection of public policy and business operations, building strong relationships with public sector offices and decision makers to ensure our markets are supported by enabling policies and operations.
The ideal candidate will bring 7–10 years of relevant experience in government relations, trade and industrial policy, and/or regulatory affairs. They should have strong familiarity with regional trade frameworks such as ECOWAS, WAEMU/UEMOA, CEMAC, and AfCFTA.
What you will be expected to do
- Manage day-to-day government engagement across West & Central Africa (WCA), maintaining strong relationships with ministries, regulators, customs, and local authorities.
- Advocate for policies that enable trade facilitation, fiscal reforms, and local manufacturing/assembly initiatives.
- Track and analyze policy and regulatory developments in trade, fiscal, and energy policy across the region.
- Provide real-time support to operations and sales teams in resolving regulatory barriers.
- Represent the company in government consultations, industry associations, and regional trade forums (ECOWAS, WAEMU/UEMOA, CEMAC, AfCFTA).
- Develop and implement policy engagement strategies tailored to country contexts.
- Prepare policy briefs, memos, and talking points for senior Management.
You might be a strong candidate if you have/are
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in economics, public policy, law, international relations, or related field.
- Fluency in English and French (mandatory).
- 7–10 years’ experience in public policy, government relations, or trade/investment advocacy.
- Strong familiarity with AfCFTA, ECOWAS, WAEMU/UEMOA, and CEMAC frameworks.
- Demonstrated success advocating for trade incentives, customs facilitation, and fiscal reforms.
- Strong experience engaging with policymakers and regulators across West & Central Africa.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and diplomacy skills.
- Ability to travel extensively within the region (around 50%)
