Reserve Corps Subject Matter Expert

The Reserve Corps Subject Matter Expert role is an as-needed position within NNSA’s NA-84 Office of Nuclear Incident Response. This role serves to support the RC team. 

Requirements and Responsibilities:

• Candidate will provide SME level support in the fields of health physics and radiography, as well as expertise as a Radiological Assistance Program (RAP) Equipment Coordinator and Training Coordinator to continue benefiting the NEST mission.

• Travel may be required on an as-needed basis

 Conditions of Employment:

• DOE site access will require the qualified candidate to be a U.S. citizen and have a current DOE Q security clearance.
• Ongoing reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal substances may be conducted as a requirement for ongoing access to DOE sites; the candidate’s written consent to conduct such tests may be required as a condition of employment.
• Able to sit for extended periods and perform work in an office environment.
• Able to work after hours when required during exercises.

 Minimum Qualifications:

• 30+ years’ experience in direct counter WMD/Rad/Nuc work.
• Radiological Control Technician training
• Radiation Worker II training
• NIMS experience
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Willingness to work in an environment that changes rapidly.
• Must be an independent, self-starter with excellent organizational skills and an ability to multi-task and be comfortable working with a team of technical experts in varying fields of security and emergency operations disciplines.
• Detail oriented.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to perform in a dynamic environment.

LOCATION: This position will be a combination of remote and in-person as-needed by the work scope.

SALARY: Salaries are determined based on several factors including external market data, internal equity, and the candidate’s related knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.
