Administrative Coordinator - Cancer Genetics (Medical Genetics Practice))

The Mount Sinai Cancer Genetic Counseling Program is seeking a qualified full-time Administrative Support Specialist to support our group of Board Eligible/Board Certified Cancer Genetic Counselors in a high-volume clinical practice. This position requires excellent communication and organizational skills and a strong ability to collaborate with referring providers.
- Submit prior authorization requests and obtain necessary referral for specialty services, and coordinate peer-to-peer conversations between genetic counselor and insurer
- Compile necessary records and reports for clinic
- Obtain intakes for patients to help triage and schedule genetic counseling appointments
- Manage incoming internal and external referrals via the EPIC referral system
- Engage in professional communication with genetics laboratories
- Compile necessary records and reports for clinic
- Fulfill correspondence requests in a timely fashion
- Obtain and review specified medical records that will facilitate triage and evaluation of patients
- Scan specified hard copy documents and save to secure electronic folders
- Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, genetic counselors, physicians, and other healthcare professionals
- Ability to multi-task and manage a high volume of incoming calls
- Bachelors Degree or equivalent combination of applicable experience and education
- 5 years related administrative or business experience required. Some supervisory experience preferred. experience and education
Preferred:
- Demonstrated competence in administrative setting
- Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Strong knowledge of EPIC Registration and Scheduling
- Must possess strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Must enjoy working as part of a team
- Interest in prenatal care and/or genetics a plus
- Fluency in Spanish a plus
