Responsibilities
The Senior Network Research Engineer designs and develops models, algorithms, and tests to control and evaluate radios, networks, and applications. Tasks include, but are not limited to:
- Develop and/or integrate models to emulate/simulate networks and protocols
- Design and develop networking protocols and associated algorithms for real or emulated networks
- Develop relevant scenarios for testing and evaluation of wireless networks and networking protocols
- Develop application layer software to model usage of tactical wireless networks
- Develop or implement interfaces between application and network layers
- Develop analysis tools for data collection, performance characterization, and visualization
- Documents research analysis and test results
- Provide regular briefings of technical progress
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Abilty to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
- Must have experience with network research and engineering, network and communication protocols
- Must have experience with network simulation and/or emulation
- Must have experience with technical report writing
- Must have experience with programming languages, e.g., Python, C++, Java
- Must have a background in wireless communications and networks
- Must have strong attention to detail
- Must have the ability to work in a team environment
- Must have excellent oral and written communications skills
- Must have the following Education/Experience: BS 12-15, MS 10-13, PhD 8-10
Desired Qualifications:
- A Self-starter requiring limited direction and supervision
- Master's of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Computer Science
- Have experience with Machine Learning tools and frameworks, e.g., Tensorflow, Pytorch
- Have experience with network simulation tools, e.g., ns3
- Have experience developing and implementing prototypes for radio and network control algorithms
