Position Overview
Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering (KIE) has an immediate opening for a ESDC Design Manager in our growing Design Management group. This role is in the US, with the opportunity for flexible work based on project needs. This position requires immediate mobility to and from the Eastern regions of New York State, with specific focus on the Project Office located in Colonie, NY. You will be part of our rapidly growing Infrastructure Design Department, which includes structural, geotechnical, civil, drainage, roadway, rail, and materials disciplines, is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on the design-build delivery of infrastructure projects.
In this role you will have the opportunity to significantly impact the growth of the Kiewit Infrastructure Design Department and its direct leadership and support to the Kiewit Infrastructure Construction Group for alternative delivery projects. You will have the opportunity to leverage and manage our Kiewit Engineering staff and sub-consultants to deliver design-build and PPP projects across North America and Canada.

Location
This position is based out of our Woodcliff Lake, NJ office with travel to the Project site(s). This includes attending weekly progress meetings at the Project office in Colonie, NY, as well as visiting individual Project Area locations monthly and/or on an as-needed basis across New York State including the following regions: Westchester, NY | Hudson Valley | Catskills/Albany | Saratoga | Adirondacks. Business travel expectation is roughly 50% for the first 12 months of construction and then 25% and/or as-needed.
Responsibilities
- Manage an Engineering Services During Construction (ESDC) team to support our construction districts during construction for projects in the Eastern region, and projects across the United States and Canada.
- Meeting weekly with the design leads and construction partners to support the District’s engineering needs during construction of the project work.
- Meeting regularly with Design and Construction executive leadership to provide ESDC progress updates including scope, schedule, budget reporting for the ESDC team services.
- Implement and oversee delivery of ESDC processes related to: Requests for Information (RFIs), Field Design Changes (FDCs), Shop Drawing/Workplan reviews, Major Temporary Components (MTCs), etc.
- Manage cost performance of ESDC team including monthly cost reporting to upper management.
- Manage scope and change management protocols to properly identify scope creep. This includes identification of Potential Change-Orders (PCOs) and quantification of Change-Orders (CORs).
- Manage delivery of Field Design Change (FDC) packages including oversight
