About the Opportunity:
The Marine Sales Representative & Business Development Manager will be instrumental in driving outside sales, cultivating and maintaining customer relationships, and developing new business and dealer networks for Hornblower Marine’s diesel engine products. The role involves developing and implementing strategies to increase sales and profitability, traveling to customer sites, showcasing product benefits, and demonstrating both on-site and off the Shipyard’s capabilities and commitment to our clients. The Marine Sales Representative & Business Development Manager will collaborate closely with other departments to meet client needs and achieve business goals.
The ideal candidate will have a proven background in outside sales, previous experience in distribution, industrial and/or heavy equipment, and a knowledge of high speed diesel engines. The position will be responsible for the overall direction of sales and East Coast dealer network development for our Moteurs Baudouin engines and all other supported brands.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve company goals and expand customer base
- Identify and cultivate relationships with potential clients, including ship owners, operators, and other marine industry stakeholders
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing marine clients to ensure repeat business and customer satisfaction
- Develop iterative targets, strategic sales plans, and goals as needed to achieve monthly KPIs
- Track and report on said sales performance metrics, including revenue targets, sales pipelines, and customer satisfaction
- Collaborate with internal teams, including internal sales, customer service, engineering, and operations to develop comprehensive proposals and bids for clients
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to develop key territory-specific sales strategies for Baudouin and identify opportunities for growth and innovation
- Attend industry events, conferences, and networking functions to promote the company’s services and expand its presence in the market
- Prepare and deliver presentations to clients, highlighting the company’s capabilities, services, and value proposition
- Negotiate contracts and agreements with clients, ensuring that terms are favorable to the company and aligned with its strategic objectives
- Maintain the CRM system, make outbound calls, and prioritize long-term client relationships over short-term gains
- Stay informed about relevant regulations, standards, and best practices in the marine industry ensuring compliance and adherence to quality standards
- Travel to project and customer sites within the US Northeast & Mid-Atlantic states and internationally approximately 75% of the time
- Represent Hornblower Marine and its interests in a professional and expert manner while developing methods to improve the overall professionalism of the territory

Requirements & Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the maritime industry
- Proven track record of successfully developing and implementing business development strategies in the maritime industry
- Extensive experience in building and maintaining relationships with clients in the maritime sector
- Strong understanding of the maritime industry, including relations, trends, and key players
- Previous experience in distribution, industrial and / or heavy equipment, and a knowledge of high speed diesel engines
- Familiarity with shipbuilding, marine engineering, propulsion systems, and other technical aspects of the maritime industry
- Understanding of financial principles, including budgeting, forecasting, and pricing strategies to ensure profitability and growth
- Experience in negotiating and closing complex contracts and agreements
- Willingness to adapt to changing market conditions, customer preferences, and industry regulations to stay competitive and drive business growth
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey information, negotiate contracts and build relationships
- Experience with Word, Excel and organizational documentation file management systems
- Must thrive in a fast-paced environment
