The Role at a Glance

This position provides strategic leadership to achieve key business objectives for the Executive Benefits (EB ie, COLI/BOLI) and private placement life insurance (PPLI) lines of business. They will lead a team of product, pricing, and operational experts who partner closely with distribution, investments, and administration teams. They will contribute insights related to the BOLI/COLI and PPLI marketplaces, product designs, regulations, and investments. They will play a key role in developing the overall Life business strategy and provide highly specialized expertise to senior stakeholders.

What you'll be doing

  • Provides thought leadership and advises senior management on EB and PPLI concepts, objectives, strategies, and risks.
  • Ensures the compiling and analyzing of key performance indicators and metrics for their assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Develops and manages the overall departmental budget for their assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with internal and/or external stakeholders as they relate to EB and PPLI strategies.
  • Maintains knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends for assigned area(s) of responsibility, assesses the impact, and collaborates with executive/senior management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future strategies.
  • Leads the identification, development, and implementation of strategic process improvements that significantly reduce workloads or improve quality across the team, business unit, and/or the organization for assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Leads and enhances PPLI growth strategy and EB initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives within assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Provides training and development opportunities, including stretch assignments, for team members and gives honest and open feedback to aid in the development of talent. Ensures top talent is hired and retained for their assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Leads, establishes and implements priorities, performance goals and objectives to achieve key business results for their assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Oversees the identification, mitigation, and resolution of financial risks related to the activities of their assigned areas of responsibility by managing a pricing team and working with other corporate actuarial teams.
  • Shapes strategies addressing highly complex activities, issues, and concerns within the EB and PPLI product space, ensuring solutions support long term profitability.

What we’re looking for

Must-Haves

  • 12+ Years experience in actuarial science and/or life insurance experience directly aligned to the specific responsibilities of this position.
  • 5+ Years of senior management experience in a large complex organization including influencing senior management and critical stakeholder responsibility.
  • Experience directly related to Private Placement investments within Life Insurance.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills
  • Ability to adapt quickly in a changing work environment

 

Nice-to Haves

  • Actuarial life product experience required; BOLI/COLI experience preferred.
