This position will start around May 27 (includes training), 2026 and end around Labor Day 2026. To be considered for this position, applicants will need to be fully available throughout the duration of the program.

What you get to do:
As a Camp Counselor you’ll:

  • Teach and implement assigned camp curriculum in an effective and timely manner.
  • Supervises and chaperones groups of up to 26 campers throughout the day including out-of-park activities.
  • Participate in designated camp duties: set-up and breakdown of activity materials and equipment, classroom set-up and clean-up, team-building exercises, attending animal presentations including soak zone areas, ride park attractions including water rides, etc.
  • Provide guidance to campers keeping them on task and behaving appropriately.
  • Provide feedback to parents/guardians and management regarding camper behavior.
  • Maintain knowledge of camp rules/operations, navigation of park and any field trip sites.
  • Serve as a positive role model for campers and other park guests by adhering to company standards on wardrobe, conduct, safety, cleanliness and timeliness at all times.
  • Must be able to work near marine and terrestrial animals and large crowds of people.
  • Carries out activities and teaches animal information as outlined in the camp curriculum. Can include role play, making crafts, singing camp songs, playing camp games, and reading stories.
  • Assist in maintenance and inventory of all SeaWorld Camp supplies and equipment, including general upkeep of SeaWorld Camp facilities.
  • Meal periods will be observed while supervising campers.
  • Complete general camp paperwork, including daily logs and incident reports.
  • Become familiar with each camp’s roster to prepare in advance for upcoming campers’ needs.
  • Meets and greets parents and campers during check-in/checkout procedure.
  • Assists zoological staff with campers during animal encounters.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with Ambassadors, Vendors and our Guests.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Occasionally assist other locations and areas in the park as needed.


What it takes to succeed:

  • At least 19 years of age.
  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Two years of experience working in a camp environment or equivalent preferred.
  • Education, recreation, early childhood development, marine biology, biology, or zoology majors preferred.
  • Able to positively interact with guests and co-workers of all ages, different ethnic/cultural backgrounds and/or language, and individuals with special needs.
  • Comfortable working with children 6-13 years of age and demonstrate resilience in a fast-paced, kid centric environment with minimal downtime.
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work near marine and terrestrial animals and crowds of people.
  • Able to use mechanical devices such as microphone systems (hand held or headset), voice projector, computer, video projector, slide screen, television, equipment lift, and inflatable teaching tools.
  • Able to work Monday through Friday during the camp season (can include holidays and evenings)
  • Able to stand and walk outdoors in a variety of weather conditions for prolonged periods of time.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • CPR/AED/First Aid certification required by the first day of work from American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or National Safety Council.
  • A valid California driver's license required; visiting students and military must have a valid United States driver's license from state of residency and ability to provide a copy of the DMV report; Must be able to meet the requirements to drive SeaWorld vehicles.
