Purpose

Under the supervision of the Assistant Dean of Admissions & Financial Aid, the Director will be responsible for leading the management, planning, and implementation of programs and initiatives for the Law School’s admissions and financial aid efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the J.D. application review process to ensure applications are completed, assigned, and reviewed in a timely manner while also evaluating J.D. applications.

  • Counsels prospective students about the law school admissions process, financial aid, and law school, providing excellent and professional customer service skills and demeanor in all interactions.

  • Participates in national and regional recruitment events, educational conferences, and other events representing the Law School in its recruitment and outreach efforts.

  • Supervises and manages the associate director of admissions and their staff providing support, guidance, and annual assessments.

  • Supports the Law School’s pipeline and outreach initiatives, including the Texas Law Pipeline Program, through conducting outreach visits, organizing educational programming, and counseling pre-law students.

  • Support projects as assigned by the Assistant Dean of Admissions & Financial Aid.

  • Other related responsibilities and functions as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • J.D. with at least two years of experience working in a higher education setting. 

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with strong and effective written and verbal communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Problem identification, critical thinking, and problem solving skills; professional judgment and decision-making ability; ability to take initiative, assess processes, and implement improvements while managing multiple tasks concurrently.

  • Ability to work with a diverse constituency of students from diverse backgrounds.

  • Willingness to travel. 

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of federal and state education law and policies.

  • Experience with Unite and/or ACES2, related admissions CRM platforms, student information systems or similar databases.

  • Strong proficiency in marketing and communications, and social media strategies.

Salary Range

$95,000 + depending on qualifications

Working Conditions

  • May work around standard office conditions

  • Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation

  • Use of manual dexterity

  • Occasional night and weekend work

  • Occasional travel
