The Senior Center Coordinator earns a competitive salary of $58,973.21-$75,190.84/year, based on qualifications. Additionally, the city pays all premiums for our employees' dental, long-term disability protection, and life insurance plus the majority portion of the medical premium for employees and their dependents. A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A SENIOR CENTER COORDINATOR:

Responsible for coordinating, organizing, conducting and facilitating programs, special events, services, and activities designed to meet the recreational needs of active senior adults.

Supervisory Functions:

Directly supervise two (2) full time employee and three (3) part time employees in the Senior Program. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop, implement, and supervise recreation programs, classes, special events and activities for active senior adults; recruit and hire class instructors, and determine class schedules and fees.
  • Prepare program information for brochure publication and registration, assist and supervise staff in registering and enrolling participants, inform participants of class changes, cancellations, refunds, and evaluate recreation programs.
  • Direct, schedule, review, and evaluate the work activities of subordinates and contracted instructors.
  • Investigate and resolve citizen complaints concerning classes, instructors, or the facility.
  • Promote recreation programs through press releases, flyers, and presentations.
  • Requisition and maintain supplies and equipment for the senior center.
  • Develop professional service agreements and foster community partnerships to produce a more beneficial and financially stable outcome in programming areas for active senior adults.
  • Ensure that staff and participants know and follow safety and educational procedures during programs, classes and general facility use.
  • Prepare and recommend program budget requests; monitor senior center budget and expenses.
