Vaccination for COVID-19 and Influenza (flu) is mandatory for all MSK staff. Staff are considered fully vaccinated upon completion of a primary vaccination series for COVID-19 (i.e., one dose of a single dose vaccine or a final dose of a multi-dose vaccine series). Exceptions from the COVID-19 and Influenza (flu) vaccine requirements are permitted for those who request and receive an approved medical, religious, or fully remote exemption.  Requests for exemption can take up to two weeks to review. Vaccination or an approved exemption is required to start work.

We are seeking an Assistant Laboratory Manager to join our Clinical Microbiology laboratory at The Center for Laboratory Medicine.  

 

You will:

• Assist the manager to direct the day-to-day operations of the Microbiology laboratory to achieve efficient and effective operations. to ensure quality service, and to meet the needs of the clinical staff and patients
• Lead special projects, quality process improvement initiatives, and supervise assay implementation 
• Review all policies and ensure accuracy
• Oversee the safety of the Laboratory and assure a clean, safe, adequately supplied work area
• Participate in the laboratory inventory program to provide adequate inventory of reagents and supplies
• Create and help maintain an environment that emphasizes safety following New York State DOH, Joint Commission, OSHA and CLIA regulations
• Provide direction, training, and feedback on routine laboratory procedures, as assigned
• Develop and monitor the processes governing specimens sent to reference labs for the Microbiology Department
• Manage the ECLRS reporting system for the Microbiology lab
• Responsible for the organization of work, supervision of employees, staff development, expense control, billing reconciliation, quality management, process improvement and problem solving. 

You need:

• A Bachelor’s degree (major: Biology, Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Sciences preferred); Master’s degree preferred. If degree is in another discipline, all didactic and training requirement prerequisites must be complete as outlined by NYS and other accrediting agencies. 
• 6+ years of Clinical Laboratory experience.  
• A NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist License
• ASCP Certification preferred

Hours: 9 AM - 5 PM
