Our company is an international, multidisciplinary firm, providing services to a wide base of clients across the globe. Our environmental group in Orlando, Florida is seeking an Environmental Scientist to join our team. Our group is dedicated to managing the environmental components of projects for Federal, State and local agency clients, primarily within the Central Florida region, with a heavy focus on transportation and energy infrastructure projects.  We provide our clients with a wide range of services including natural resource assessments and permitting, NEPA compliance and document preparation, gopher tortoise relocation, permit compliance oversight during construction, ecosystem restoration design and construction, and environmental planning and design services. 

We are seeking an experienced Senior Environmental Specialist with experience conducting Noise, Vibration and Air Quality Studies for state and Federal agencies including but not limited to FDOT, NPS, FAA, and FTA. The qualified candidate is expected to conduct air and noise/vibration measurement, modeling, designing data acquisition systems and data analysis as well as create high-quality technical reports and report figures from the analysis of field and GIS-based data.  The qualified candidate will be a highly motivated and organized individual, capable of handling the demands of multiple priorities for various clients and projects. The candidate should be experienced in managing project teams that include junior staff, subconsultants, and clients. The qualified candidate will possess excellent communication and personal skills and is expected to work effectively within a project team. The candidate will also be expected to develop and maintain successful working relationships with clients and regulatory agency representatives.

Your Key Responsibilities

The Senior Environmental Specialist will be responsible for conducting noise, air and vibration studies, preparing permitting applications and analyzing environmental data for a variety of projects for the Florida Department of Transportation, private, and other Federal, State and local agency clients. The candidate will work both in the office and in the field planning and leading the noise and air quality field work efforts necessary to support the deliverable. 

Additional Responsibilities

  • Identification of potential environmental impacts and project-specific environmental regulatory requirements through reviews of engineering plans, aerials, and GIS databases.
  • Prepare technical reports in accordance with Federal, state & local regulations.
  • Delineating wetlands, conducting functional assessments, and preparing corresponding documentation.
  • Take initiative, resolve problems, and create improved procedures to ensure that tasks are completed in the most effective, safe, and efficient manner.
  • Maintain Stantec’s high standard of quality control and quality assurance. 
  • Identify and resolve problems in creative ways.
  • Communicate regularly with the Project Manager and your Supervisor to ensure that project schedules are met.
  • Effective communication with colleagues, clients, and agency personnel

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Conduct noise measurement, modeling, data acquisition systems, data analysis in accordance with FHWA’s Traffic Noise Model (TNM) as required for use on all Federally funded highway projects, per 23 CFR part 772.
  • Conduct air quality analysis to identify project level air quality effects for CO, PM, MSATs, etc. in accordance with the Clean Air Act.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational and task scheduling skills.
  • The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced work environment as well as the ability to manage and prioritize multiple assignments concurrently.
  • Willingness and ability to learn new systems and skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and technical writing
  • Must be disciplined and motivated in producing high-quality deliverables.
  • An affinity for working in a multidisciplinary team of engineers, planners, scientists, and subject matter experts with the ability to work independently, dependably, and efficiently.
