We have an amazing opportunity for an Assistant General Manager (AGM) to join the Opening Team at our new Pleasanton location.  This AGM role is a great opportunity to grow your career by coaching a team through the launch of a new store.  While working in collaboration with the General Manager you'll develop your business acumen and leadership skills to further your career.  If you have previous supervisory skills in the food and beverage industry, learning agility, and have a passion for people -  keep reading!  

WHAT YOU’LL DO

This role Betters Day by creating an environment in the store that executes on the business objectives and embodies the Philz culture.  The Assistant General Manager is a growth-oriented role that will work in conjunction with the General Manager and provide feedback, make recommendations, and take action on key areas including but not limited to financial performance, operations, and people development.   With everything you do, you’ll embody our Philz Core Values:  Obsess Over Customers & Team, In Pursuit of Better, and Be Kind & Keep it Real.

Operational and Financial Health of the Store

  • Evaluate staffing levels and team member performance and provide feedback and/or take action to ensure labor costs, customer experience, team member performance and compliance to meet business needs.
  • When the Store Leader is absent, partner with the Area Leader to ensure that all team members are paid accurately and promptly, in compliance with all wage and hour regulations.
  • Use appropriate tools and resources to create schedules that enhance the customer experience and maximize productivity while adhering to our guidelines.
  • Support and provide recommendations to ensure financial health of the business including driving revenue and managing costs.
  • Use operational systems and tools to identify and uphold all food safety standards, complete monthly food safety audits, and effectively address any areas of concern.
  • Ensure compliance with all state and county regulations.
  • Uphold equipment, technology, and facilities standard to ensure safety and compliance.  Make recommendations and communicate any issues through the appropriate request channels and ensure the store environment remains safe for both the team and customers.

Create and Maintain a Customer and Team Member Community Focused on Bettering Days.

  • Cultivate an environment for customers by respond to and addressing customer feedback from all channels, taking appropriate actions to improve and personalize the customer experience.
  • Provide feedback, make recommendations, and take action on Team Members to ensure they meet customer experience expectations.
  • Train, communicate, and manage performance of rollouts and new initiatives affecting the customer experience to all team members and ensure effective implementation.
  • Foster a positive, values-driven work environment by implementing programs and processes that enhance Team Member experience. 
  • Directly supervise team members by scheduling shifts, delegating duties, and evaluating performance.
  • A key stakeholder who interviews, hires, trains, and onboards new team members.  Responsible for making recommendations on promotions and terminations.

  • 2-3 years previous supervisory experience in retail, hospitality environments that are high volume.
  • Proven ability to coach and mentor team members with previous success hiring and training experience.
  • Track record of providing and training on excellent guest experiences.
  • Exposure to leadership tasks such as scheduling, inventory, cost of goods, payroll, and safety/compliance.  
  • Proficient computer skills
