Perioperative Assistant

The Perioperative Assistant is responsible for performing various patient care, safety, and technical duties to support nursing teams and surgeons/physicians in surgical and procedural areas. Activities focus on assisting the surgeon/physician in the performance of procedures, using surgical equipment and instruments, and ensuring all ORs are adequately stocked with appropriate quantity of supplies and equipment. Will also work in Sterile Processing.  This role maintains a safe, hazard free, clean environment that facilitates patient focused care. The Perioperative Assistant will work in a variety of surgical specialties to provide care to surgical patients. 

High school graduate or equivalent (GED) required.

A minimum of one year of Sterile Processing Technician experience preferred. 

Experience working in patient care preferred.

Knowledge of medical terminology and comprehensive understanding of surgical processes and procedures preferred.

Licensure or Certification:

Current BLS certification or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
