About the role

The Team

The Tasmanian Neurosurgical Unit is a dynamic and highly specialised acute care environment providing care to patients with complex neurosurgical, spinal and neurological conditions.  Patients are cared for in a ward or high dependency environment on the Unit.

We are a supportive and collaborative team committed to delivering safe, compassionate and patient-centred care. Our staff work closely with medical, nursing and allied health professionals, creating a strong multidisciplinary culture where teamwork, communication and mutual respect are highly valued.

The Role

As an Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM), you will work in partnership with the Nurse Unit Manager and senior clinical staff to support the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centred care. You will provide clinical and operational leadership, coordinate day-to-day patient care activities and patient flow, support staff development, and contribute to the effective management of resources.
 
This role plays an important part in fostering a collaborative team environment, driving quality improvement initiatives, and ensuring best-practice outcomes for patients, clients and the wider healthcare service.

You will need

  • Demonstrated clinical experience in the relevant practice area, with the capacity to provide clinical leadership, exercise professional judgement and initiative and work with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand the business of the unit/service in delivering the best outcomes within available resources, including a demonstrated understanding of patient flow principles and discharge planning in the pursuit of patient/client goals within a contemporary healthcare framework.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to the evaluation, innovation and development of services provided by the unit/service and the review of clinical practice policy, procedures and protocols.

Details of appointment

Multiple, fixed term, full time and part time, shift worker positions, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 7 September 2027.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary

$109,797 to $115,813 pro rata per annum + our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type

Eligibility

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
