About the role

Description

The University of Washington (UW), Department of Medicine Division of Metabolism Endocrinology and Nutrition is currently recruiting for up to 17 positions at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or full Professor rank on the Clinical Practice track to specialize in Endocrinology. Specific rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications as generally described in UW’s Faculty Code Section 24-34. These positions are based at Harborview Medical Center, the University of Washington Endocrine Care clinic, University of Washington Medical Center-Montlake, and the UW Medicine Diabetes Institute sites. Full-/part-time status is negotiable. (International candidates may be hired and employed on on a full-time basis.) Estimated start date is January 1, 2025, specific start date is negotiable.

In addition to clinical work, teaching, scholarship, and service are integral to all Clinical Practice positions. The initial appointment period will be three years, at a minimum, with eligibility for renewal thereafter. Faculty on the clinical practice track hold multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Clinical Practice track appointments are not eligible for tenure.

Our nationally ranked Endocrinology program provides a collegial atmosphere and an exciting array of patients with diverse Endocrine pathology. The position allows for a variety of responsibilities including clinical care, education of Endocrine Fellows, Internal Medicine Residents, and medical students and the pursuit of academic interests. The practice includes outpatient clinics, an inpatient consult service, an inpatient glycemic consult service and numerous subspecialty services. The practice is supported by an advanced practitioner led inpatient glycemic team, a cohort of certified diabetes educators, nutritionists, pharmacists, mental health professionals, and clinical/administrative support staff. Our faculty is supportive and nurturing.

University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research/scholarship and service. The new hire will also contribute to clinical teaching through resident, student, and fellow education, provide clinical care on the inpatient Endocrine consultation service and have the opportunity to participate in clinical research trials.

Salary

The base salary range will be: $16,700 - $25,000 per month ($200,400 - $300,000 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization. Other compensation associated with this position may include an administrative salary supplement (ADS).

Qualifications

The successful candidate must have an MD or DO (or foreign equivalent), medical licensure in the state of Washington and Board Eligibility or Certification in Endocrinology (or foreign equivalent) by the start date of employment. 

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
