Job Description
The objective of the Space Development group is to provide innovative technology solutions to ensure our Nation achieves and maintains space superiority in a multi-domain conflict. We're looking for a software engineer to develop space combat power and multi-domain simulation software. This software will support force structure planning, Digital Test and Training – Synthetic Environment, Joint Combatant Command analysis and operations support, Space Force testing and training, and research and development of space systems. As a Software Engineer 3, you will be expected to maintain and manage workflow of junior engineers, in addition to leading projects under the Space Protection and Response Solution program. The work will be hybrid at Kirtland AFB. Final interview contingent on a technical coding assessment in C++.
What You Will Do
• Interacts with the team via Confluence, Discourse, GitLab, and Jira. Performs code reviews and ensures work quality remains high.
• Works with government leadership to keep the team on course. Works with customers to capture requirements and feedback.
• Updates status and presents progress to local leadership and customers.
• Conducts multidisciplinary research to support team development and modeling objectives.
• Contributes to broader team vision and direction discussions. Contributes to simulation software architecture discussions.
• Designs, develops, documents, tests, and debugs space simulation software.
What You Must Have
• 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
• Advanced proficiency in C++ programming, including compiling, linking, and debugging complex applications
• Experience compiling, linking, and debugging of C++ applications.
• Hands-on experience with agent-based and event-driven modeling and simulation.
• Familiarity with space systems concepts, such as coordinate systems, time standards, and orbital propagation.
• Ability to excel in a fast-paced, agile development environment.
• Experience problem-solving, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-pace agile development environment.
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance
Preferred Requirements
• Proficiency in Python, including experience with embedded Python applications
