The Role
The Alternative Investments Brokerage Operations role is responsible for processing trades accurately on behalf of our clients and in a timely manner to mitigate risk and exposure to the organization. These activities are performed daily and require adherence to policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines
We have multiple openings in Jersey City and Westlake. These are the options for team placement. There will be an application question around your preference for focus area within Alternative Investments:
Trading: This team is responsible for supporting all subscription, capital call, and redemption activities involving Alternative Investment (AI) positions moving into or out of NFS custody. They play a critical role in identifying and escalating potential risks to the organization, managing outbound client communications, and ensuring that all decision-related transactions comply with internal policies and regulatory standards. The team regularly interacts with fund companies and their transfer agents to resolve issues and facilitate smooth processing. Additionally, they educate clients on Alternative Investment policies and procedures, documentation requirements, and how to navigate the online system effectively.
Service: In this role you will be on the phone taking approximately 30-60 inbound calls daily from clients roughly 95% of the day dealing with a range of issues for our customers. The associate will be managing multiple client requests/issues that must be completed within a tight timeframe. The associate will be responsible for monitoring customer adherence to internal guidelines in addition to building and maintaining strong relationships while providing a superior level of customer service. In this position, the associate will be responsible for having the technical expertise to respond to inquiries on a variety of alternative investment issues.
Follow Up/Out of Standard: The Follow Up team is tasked with analyzing and researching pending transactions such as trades, ACAT and Non-ACAT Receives, Internal Transfers, and Conversions with issuers for settlement. The associate will be responsible for handling research requests regarding pending transactions and for resolving complex issues in a timely manner. The Follow Up team is also responsible for outreach and education to sponsors who are delinquent in their required reporting, such as reconciliation files and auditor opinion letter. The associate will also be responsible for several other ancillary processes for the department.
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
College degree preferred
2+ years of brokerage operations experience preferred
Prior experience with alternative investments and transfers process experience is preferred
Detail oriented, ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
Team player with capability to help maintain a positive work environment
Strong analytical and decision-making skills
Ability to prioritize and work effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines and processes
Ability to handle and resolve complex problems
Strong verbal and written interaction skills including ability to explain complex processes
Effective time management skills and ability to prioritize and multi-task
Strong PC skills - Word, Excel and Access
