CoreDev Team Intern (2023)
1010dataAbout the role
WE’RE HIRING INTERNS!
1010data welcomes current college students looking for careers in:
- Frontend development and design
- Backend development and API design
PERKS
We offer a fully remote work environment with plenty of virtual opportunities to connect with other team members across the organization. If you prefer an in-person experience and you live in the NYC area, we can accommodate that as well. We can’t wait to talk to you about our intern experience, including but not limited to an assigned mentor, lunch and learns, networking opportunities, virtual social and wellness events, and a graduation ceremony. You’ll also have a chance to connect with past interns who are now working with us full-time!
PROGRAM DURATION
Our program will begin June 5, 2023 and end August 4, 2023.
YOUR ROLE
1010data will match your skillsets to one of five exciting projects, specifically tied to this year’s organizational goals. Your assigned project may include:
- Extension of our existing platform, both backend and frontend, with support for bulk JSON data, and possibly .sqlite database files. This project will touch nearly every layer of the 1010data stack, making small changes and improvements to data loading, data export, and parts of the “GUI2” environment, such as the Export tool and Table Uploader tool. It will involve collaboration with several members of our CoreDev team and a considerable amount of reading and understanding existing codebases.
An ideal candidate for this project will be an adaptable generalist, comfortable with both back-end development and front-end development. Some familiarity with C, JavaScript and HTML is useful, as is any prior experience with functional programming or vector languages.
- Extend the 1010data platform with support for generating complex presentations as .pptx slide decks or PDF documents. The work in this project naturally divides itself into two milestones: a library for programmatically generating and manipulating .pptx files (and especially populating user-supplied template files with data), and integration of this library into a QuickApp renderer. The first half is comfortably free- standing, though the candidate may find it useful to study our existing codebases which manipulate .xlsx files, as they are both facets of the Office Open XML (OOXML) format. The second half will involve studying and writing K to mate this library with our infrastructure.
An ideal candidate for this project will have an interest in backend development, API design and working with complex data formats. Some familiarity with C is useful, as is any prior experience with functional programming or vector languages.
- Build and customize a set of front-end components for text editing, to be used in the Data Workshop. This project is mostly “greenfield” work, unburdened by existing codebases, as it is intended for an entirely new product. Development will be exclusively focused on web technology, and does not require gaining extensive knowledge of proprietary 1010data technology. The candidate may collaborate with our documentation team to obtain data to drive auto-completion functionality and study prior art from the “GUI2” environment.
An ideal candidate for this project has a strong interest in frontend development and design, and some prior exposure to fundamental web technologies like JavaScript, CSS, and HTML.
- Build a dashboard for the LOG2ELK system. This will consist of a PowerBI application communicating with different parts of our system to provide a summary interface.
An ideal candidate for this project has a strong interest in UX Design, an interest in interfacing with REST APIs and credential management, and the grit to wrangle disparate datasets. We offer extensive and easily accessible training materials for PowerBI, Zabbix and ELK to help you complete this project.
- Complete a simple command line tool that uses the CSDK2/API2/AQI to run queries and download data.
An ideal candidate for this project has C programming skills, the ability to work in a UNIX environment, and experience using and creating command line tools
PAY
Your hourly rate for your internship will be $20.00. Our pay dates are on the 15th and last day of each month.
