Director, IT Operations

Reporting to the VP, Information Security and IT, you'll be responsible for scaling our corporate IT team and building world-class internal tooling to accelerate our business. In our IT team at Airwallex, we're on a mission to build IT as a cohesive product that our employees love - and inspire them to build even better products for our customers. We're ambitious, laser focused on the cutting edge tech, and have a wide scope to throw away the bad and replace with excellence.
Your day-to-day will involve diving deep with users and teams across Airwallex, understanding pain points, and helping get our IT team to the next level by hiring excellent talent and building processes. You'll build a roadmap of changes to uplift our IT infrastructure, coach others and get hands on to implement those changes. Operating at a global scale, you'll solve problems not just for your local office and colleagues, but for 19 different locations scattered across the world.

What you'll be doing:

• Develop a strategy and execution plan for how we can build our IT to the next level
• Hire and retain a team of 16+ IT engineers, project managers, and operations staff, with a focus on elevating and growing talent
• Take ownership of our IT roadmap, identifying new priorities, removing things that are no longer relevant, and driving the team towards execution
• Ensure we're delivering high quality support and services to our customers - who happen to be our colleagues
• Own and implement part of our IT infrastructure - we all hold expertise in various areas, and you'll have the opportunity to remain hands-on and lead by example
• Work cross-functionally with other teams in the company to identify high impact areas for us to invest in IT tools
• Develop and track OKRs to measure our team's impact on the company

What you’ll bring:

• Experience with modern IT best practices - such as automation-first approaches, terraform/infrastructure as code, deployment pipelines, and more
• 3+ years experience managing multiple IT Engineers
• 5+ years as an individual contributor in an IT role
• Solid understandings of endpoint management and configuration best practices
• In depth experience with multiple SaaS tools - we use Okta, Kandji, Google Workspace, and others. If you can go deep elsewhere, we trust you will go deep on our stack too!
• Project management experience to coordinate across multiple parties - including vendors and internal stakeholders
• A high bar for quality and success
