Advisor/Senior Advisor, Translational Research Group, Lilly Gene Therapy

We are responsible for inventing, characterizing, and advancing novel genome therapy reagents for a myriad of clinical applications. Our team works cross-functionally within our organization across multiple disease areas and platforms. Our goal is to deliver on the promise of gene therapy to patients around the world.

Responsibilities:

The Translational Research group at Lilly Gene Therapy is seeking a Translational Research scientist to support the translational efforts for AAV gene therapies, targeted nanoparticles and gene editing technologies. The successful candidate will provide scientific expertise in in vitro and in vivo studies, independently develop and execute experiments for our preclinical programs and oversee the analysis of nonclinical data. The position requires attention to detail and ability to multitask as there are often multiple, concurrent projects. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in molecular biology techniques, protein purification and assay development, reagent development, mammalian cell culture, flow cytometry and NGS data analysis. This is a lab-based position.

• Design, plan and execute experiments in cell lines and primary cells to support our preclinical programs
• Work effectively with internal and external resources to identify or generate relevant disease animal models
• Design in vitro, in vivo, and ex vivo experiments to test efficacy and safety
• Perform laboratory techniques including DNA/RNA purification and analysis (qPCR, ddPCR, RT-qPCR, NGS), protein and antibody purification, and analysis (SDS-PAGE, WES/JESS, ELISA, MSD), and flow cytometry
• Develop bioanalytical assay and optimize methods in multiple matrices
• Liaise with external vendors/CROs for assay transfer/validation
• Rigorous data analysis and effective communication to all stakeholders
• Meticulous record keeping, documentation, and reporting of research
• Contribute to/author study reports, study protocols, and SOPs
• Comply with standard laboratory practices, including documentation and biosafety policies
• Collaborate cross functionally across Lilly Research Laboratories to accelerate the development of genetic medicines

Basic Requirements:

• PhD in Molecular Biology, Pharmacology, Biology or a related scientific field with 3+ years of relevant work experience

Additional Skills/Preferences:

• Previous experience with AAV vector design and cloning
• Experience developing and performing nanoparticles and/or viral vectors related assays
• Good knowledge of the regulatory requirements for nonclinical studies
• Gene editing experience is a plus
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment

• This role may require up to 10-15% travel for studies, conferences or training.
