JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
The College of Agricultural Sciences Department of Food Science is seeking to hire students for the following:
Duties include:
- Conduct organized research in the area of food chemistry/food microbiology
- Perform independent literature searches and prepare summaries of topics pertinent to ongoing and future research
- Prepare summaries of research projects conducted in the laboratory
- Conduct research under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI) leading to peer reviewed publication. Assist PI with grant preparation
- Perform analytical procedures and protocols as directed
- Collect and analyze data from ongoing research projects
- Supervise undergraduate and graduate student researchers in the lab
- Train new students in administrative procedures used in the laboratory
- Maintain inventory and order research supplies and materials as needed
- Assure that purchasing card transactions are reconciled in a timely manner
- Maintain files (electronic) of protocols
- Assure students provide appropriately formatted and referenced protocols as they are developed for the laboratory
BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES
Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
