About the role
Job Summary
The Regional HR Manager - Select Service is responsible for providing support and training to General Managers and HR Representatives for properties in their region with regard to the following functional areas: staffing employee relations progressive discipline process benefit enrollment performance management policy development record maintenance and legal compliance for Federal State and Local Laws. Exempt associates are expected to work as much of each workday as is necessary to complete their job responsibilities.
Responsibilities
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required with at least 5 years of progressive Human Resources experience in a hotel or a related industry; or a 4-year college degree and at least 3 years of related experience; or a 2-year college degree and 4 or more years of related experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word Excel PowerPoint)
- Working knowledge of payroll systems and software and related reporting tools preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of Human Resource policies and procedures
- Intermediate knowledge of all federal state and local Employment laws
- Full knowledge of all Wage and Hour Laws
- Knowledge of Unemployment Claim processes.
- Knowledge of Office Administration and Procedures
- Knowledge of PC computers operating systems and peripherals including scanners.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Excel.
- Knowledge of internet and browser software.
- Must be able to work under limited supervision.
- Ability to handle a high volume of work and under deadlines.
- Self-motivated with high level of initiative.
- Effectively manage time and resources within defined time frames and due dates.
- Customer service oriented and focused.
- Must possess excellent analytical skills and be detail oriented.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective interpersonal and working relationships.
- Experience with collective bargaining agreements and processes for labor relations is preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop productive relationships with properties to maintain an Open-Door environment so associate issues and concerns are surfaced and addressed quickly and effectively.
- Provide solution-oriented guidance to all associates.
- Investigates associate concerns in a prompt and thorough manner.
- Liaison with the corporate HR to respond to allegations of harassment discrimination associate disputes grievances and other sensitive issues.
- Ensures property leadership is apprised of all HR related initiatives and managers understand and apply consistent policies procedures and practices.
- Coach property Managers to provide direction counsel and professional growth and development of staff; promptly address any performance issues to an acceptable outcome.
- Ensures consistency of company policies procedures and disciplinary processes for property associates.
- Ensures legal compliance with various governmental laws and regulations covering the areas of labor relations OSHA EEOC safety employment wage and hour and worker's compensation ensuring property adherence to these mandates.
- Review and advise GMs in proper handling of unemployment claims/hearings and steps to minimize worker's compensation costs.
- Manage day-to-day HR activities and associate/labor relations for properties to ensure strategic alignment with organizational objectives and compliance.
- Act as a business partner to GMs in driving process improvement and change initiative with performance management issues such as hiring associate performance career and personal development resolving associate concerns and termination.
- Conducts annual HR audits and facilitates property training and development as needed.
- Develops HR road map from noted items in audits to help improve property compliance of organizational policies and state/federal laws.
- Reviews audits and approves salary transactions according to applicable procedures.
- Counsels and advises management regarding salary planning/compensation and regards to hiring promotions reclassifications transfers.
- Provides feedback on the pulse of the hotels and suggests changes where appropriate to ensure a positive business climate.
- Lead talent management and training within hotels.
- Participate in Hotel Acquisition activities as directed by the company. It is anticipated that no more than 40% of their time will be devoted to time away.
