Position Summary:

As the VP, Strategic Alliance Management you will oversee the effective management of ICON strategic customer account(s) to ensure the successful development and quality delivery of the client's portfolio across all ICON service lines while serving as the primary, senior most ICON point of contact for the client.

Establish and maintain the strategic relationship with the client:

  • Accountable for the development and maintenance of the strategic relationship with the client

  • Serve as the principal strategic liaison, main point of contact for the client for the portfolio of work across all ICON service lines

  • Serve as a liaison with strategic clients on significant portfolio or project developments and new business (horizon pipeline planning)

Oversee the cross-functional and cross-service-line account team supporting the customer. Ensure high standards of client satisfaction, quality, and efficiency are maintained. Work with the Operational Lead from Project Management and other Service Line leaders in order to:

  • Develop a client focused team for all relevant client projects/programs

  • Work effectively with cross service line senior management and Global Operations functions in resolving issues and assuring projects are successful

  • Ensure that project plans and timelines are thoroughly discussed I developed and meet client goals and objective

  • Forecast high-level program needs for staff, take action when required to meet targets.

  • Ensure continued growth of strategic partnerships

  • Provide creative solutions to escalated issues, partnering with internal and external stakeholders

  • Audit program budgets to ensure fiscal management, where needed

  • Follow appropriate internal and external escalation paths in regards to communicating alliance or project related issues.

  • Collect and Report Metrics from strategic partnerships to help quantify improvements and/or declines in: productivity, efficiencies, costs, and quality

Manage across all ICON service lines and drive resolution of customer issues. Influence service line leaders and functional senior teams to provide customer with an excellent experience.

  • Provide senior management with reports on a regular basis (timing to be determined for each program)

  • Liaise with other functional and service line ICON senior management to improve the effectiveness of strategic partnerships, ensuring interdepartmental and interdivisional processes are efficient and cost effective

Lead development of annual account strategy and work with Business Development and Functional Departments to provide strategic direction in executing against the strategy to ensure growth in the partnerships

  • Work with BD to expand utilization of ICON services and participate in selling activities for the client(s) as appropriate

Responsible for understanding and communicating the client's perspective / strategy to ICON and for overseeing the ICON work being conducted across all service lines and functions

  • Maintain an appropriate level of knowledge and understanding regarding project issues with the ability to "drill down" to detail as needed.

  • Serve on Governance Committees

  • Co-chair Executive Steering Committee meetings with client counterpart, as appropriate

  • Support preparation for and successful execution of Joint Operations/Steering Committee meetings


Requirements:

  • Minimum of a completed Bachelor's degree

  • 7+ years' experience in project management, clinical research and drug development.

  • Prior experience in either a pharmaceutical/biotech company or CRO

  • Prior Alliance Management experience strongly preferred

  • Approximately up to 30% travel Domestic/International

  • Thorough understanding of the drug development process and project management
