The Oregon Department of Forestry is seeking a collaborative, strategic leader to guide the Forest Resources Division’s Landscape Resiliency and Assistance programs. This position plays a key role in advancing statewide forest health, supporting private landowners, and strengthening community and landscape resilience across Oregon.

What You Will Do:

As the leader of the Landscape Resiliency and Assistance unit, you will plan, develop, direct, and coordinate program operations across several foundational ODF programs. This position provides oversight, leadership, and budget development for the Small Forestland Owner Assistance Office and SFISH program, the J.E. Schroeder Seed Orchard, and the Urban and Community Forestry program.

Your work will support Oregonians through private landowner assistance—both financial and technical—administration of federal and state grants, and implementation of landscape resiliency activities on all lands, regardless of ownership. You will serve as a member of the agency’s Leadership Team and act as secretary to the Committee for Family Forestlands, helping guide policy and program direction for family forestland owners across Oregon.

What We Are Looking For:

• A strategic, people‑centered leader who can guide complex programs.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and managing budgets.
• Skills in program development, operations oversight, and continuous improvement.
• Knowledge of forest resources, landowner assistance programs, grants, or natural resource management (preferred).
• Strong collaboration, communication, and relationship‑building abilities.

This position will be located at and report to the Salem office daily.  The position may be eligible for a hybrid/remote work schedule 1-2 days a week with the ability to report to Salem when business or operational needs are dependent on onsite activities. Occasional travel to other district offices may be also be required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Six years of forestry or closely related natural resource experience that includes supervision, management, or progressively related experience,

OR

Three years of closely related natural resource experience and a bachelor’s degree in forestry or a closely related natural resource program.
