Job Description:

   

Job Family Definition:

Drives the implementation of best-in-class Tax systems architecture providing accurate indirect tax determination and relevant, timely, and information for tax compliance, planning, decision-making, control and risk management. Works with Finance and Information Technology to design, construct, and implement Tax and finance processes and systems requirements globally such as a new Tax reporting system. Develops design requirements for implementing new systems. Determines type of functionality needed in a new system. Implements processes and tools that support efficiency initiatives.

Management Level Definition:

Applies advanced subject matter knowledge to manage staff activities in solving common and complex business/technical issues within established policies. Manages exempt individual contributors and/or supervisors. Has accountability for results of a major program in terms of cost, direction and people management. Provides guidance on process improvements and recommends changes in alignment with business tactics and strategy for area of responsibility. Plans, manages and monitors operational/tactical activities of Staff. Staff members' work may involve strategic issues. Recruits and supports development of direct staff members. Typically reports to MG2 or Director. 

Additional guidance/criteria: Manages and controls activities across geographies.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages a team of exempt individual contributors for a system design or re- design by monitoring and/or setting performance goals and objectives, staffing project teams, and ensuring timely and effective delivery of various finance systems and processes.
  • Manages multiple processes and specializes in one process area.
  • Recruits, plans succession, and manages talent.
  • Builds long-term plans for systems re-design and implementation; leads maintenance and upgrades of tax and financial systems.
  • Manages the support for production tax issues
  • Leads and staffs the regulatory and compliance projects in Tax space
  • Scans the commercial environment to understand the latest applications available for Tax and localization area.
  • Liaises directly with internal business partners to resolve issues and to plan, manage, forecast, and report results.
  • Acts as the point of escalation for issues with the process; resolves issues by assigning the appropriate resources.
  • Engages with management to address issues and drive process change.

Education and Experience Required:

  • First-level university degree required in accounting, finance, or computer science; advanced university degree preferred.
  • Advanced degree or certification preferred (e.g. CPA, MBA).
  • Typically 8+ years of related experience.
  • Typically 0+ years of supervisory experience.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Expert understanding of tax, financial systems and business processes.
  • Excellent oral communication for interacting with stakeholders.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to synthesize change quickly using advanced subject and process knowledge.
  • Expert knowledge of Tax and tax processes
  • Good project management skills for running medium projects of moderate complexity.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize.
  • Ability to generate original ideas and bring about their implementation.
  • Ability to influence change and manage upward; good motivational skills.
  • Ability to identify key resources and star performers.
