The Product Manager, Portfolio Planning is responsible for driving team-wide product planning, reporting, and analysis for our award-winning family of professional-grade tax preparation, accounting, and advisory products including UltraTax CS, Accounting CS, and the CS Professional Suite.

In this role, you will contribute to that mission by developing and leading team-wide processes for quarterly and annual planning, bi-weekly and quarterly product reviews, product lifecycle planning, portfolio-wide idea intake and prioritization, and ongoing product reporting and analysis (financial, product usage, OKRs, and key metrics.)
You will lead via influence to ensure each product team’s plans align with our portfolio strategy and OKRs. You will do this work in partnership with leaders in product, compliance, engineering, design, customer proposition/product marketing, sales, and other product leaders and teams. This role reports to the VP, of Product Management – Tax, Accounting & Advisory and will be a member of the TAA product line leadership team.
A Day in the Life of Product Manager, Portfolio Planning
The Product Manager, Portfolio Planning will flex between key aspects of the role from strategic thinking (partnering with Product leaders on portfolio planning and lifecycle management) to tactical execution (process and template creation, following up on actions from a team-wide review session) and may spend more or less time in each of those areas on a given day. From leading an annual planning workshop to peer-mentoring a Product Manager on data-driven prioritization (and everything in between), the purpose of this role is to enable our Product teams to make high-quality decisions. As such, this role requires a unique blend of project management, product management, and portfolio management skills. To be successful, you should be highly analytical, detail-oriented, and action-driven, have a keen customer obsession, and be comfortable leading via influence with Product leaders and teams by enabling them to plan with outstanding processes, tools, and insights.
Key Responsibilities
Creating, establishing, and refining a set of core practices and collateral for common product activities including planning (quarterly, annual), product reviews (bi-weekly reporting, QPRs, QBRs), product idea intake, and product-level reporting and analysis. Process creation should be based on industry best practices and done collaboratively with teams. In some cases, enterprise practices or materials are available but need to be refined or used as inputs for our portfolio’s needs.
Establishing team-wide cadence for and driving these activities and being responsible for meeting invites, and agendas, coordinating pre-read materials, and tracking ownership and completion of activity-related action items. You may be on point to lead or emcee select portfolio-wide sessions, as needed.
Lead creation and completion of portfolio-level reporting and coordinate teams to deliver product-level reporting. Reporting could include written memos, presentation slides, PowerBI dashboards, or many other formats. In many cases, you will need to partner with Product leaders and teams to co-develop content.
Lead via influence to ensure team process adoption and engagement by building rapport with teams, understanding their needs, iterating based on feedback, and serving as a trusted partner who understands a team’s plans. You should be highly co-creative and input-driven to achieve this goal.
Role requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Business or Computer Science preferred or equivalent experience
3+ years of Product management or related experience (e.g. Product Operations, Product Planning, Product Portfolio Management) in a B2B, SaaS environment, preferably with enterprise, financial or tax solutions
Experience working in cross-functional, matrixed environments to drive product delivery or key project outcomes
Proven ability to work both collaboratively and independently to complete high-impact deliverables on-time
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with evolving partner and business needs
High-energy, highly collaborative approach in motivating others
Outstanding writing and presentation skills, with strong proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
Proficiency in key product tools preferred (Aha!, Microsoft Azure DevOps / JIRA / Rally, Pen
