Job Description
The Administrative Assistant will be responsible for scheduling and preparing court calendars, docket management, calendaring case events, case research , composing and typing reports and correspondence, maintaining  an efficient filing system, screening phone calls and resolving issues, maintaining monthly statistical report daily, as well as other duties assigned by the Child Support Enforcement Hearing Officer (CSEHO).  The chosen individual must exercise a high degree of initiative and independent judgement in performing confidential and complex legal administrative work related to the daily operations of the family courts.  The position serves as first point of contact for the CSEHO, and has daily interaction with court staff, attorneys, Department of Revenue (DOR), and unrepresented litigants.  Work is performed under the direction of the CSEHO.

 

Education and Training Guidelines
A bachelor’s degree and one year of work experience in business administration, office skills, or a related field.  Additional relevant experience may substitute for the recommended educational level on a year-for-year basis.  

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
-    Direct working experience in a family court/legal setting.
-    Experience with the Clerk’s Public Records System (BECA and ICMS).
-    Direct working knowledge and experience with E-Filing.
-    Knowledge of or experience with Family Law Software or Divorce Power Analyzer as well as Department of Revenue and child support issues.

 

Competencies
•    Thorough knowledge and experience operating a computer using Windows 11, and Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word, Internet Explorer/Google/Microsoft Edge, Adobe Reader, videoconferencing applications, as well as the internet. 
•    Working knowledge of the Florida State Courts System, child support court proceedings, and family legal terminology. 
•    Ability to efficiently organize, multi-task, prioritize work, meet deadlines, and work independently.
•    Ability to exercise a high degree of judgment, tact, and diplomacy, and maintain confidentiality.  Ability to present a favorable and professional impression to the Judiciary, DOR, court personnel, and public.
