ArsenalBio is seeking a Senior Instrumentation Specialist to join and be a senior and experienced member of  our Laboratory Operations Team. Reporting to the Associate Director, Laboratory Operations, this position will play a crucial role in supporting the science and efficient operation of our research labs. The Senior Instrumentation Specialist will manage, coordinate, and execute all lab equipment and maintenance operations, ensuring an efficient laboratory environment for the ArsenalBio team.  In this integral role within our R&D operations environment, you will partner closely with the Associate Director of Laboratory Operations and our research teams to establish and maintain a robust and stable lab equipment environment.  

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Lead and Manage Laboratory Equipment:
  • - Oversee internal laboratory instrumentation platform, including performance and repair assessments  - Proactively communicate work orders, projects, tasks, while seeking necessary approvals before. before initiation - Create, review, and revise instrumentation plans and schedules, assisting in defining processes and driving continuous improvements in lab operations and instrumentation management - Manage the integration of all R&D equipment into ArsenalBio’s internal asset management software for maintenance tracking and support - Document, coordinate and perform laboratory equipment repairs and preventative maintenance (PMs) when applicable, calibration when necessary, ensuring minimal downtime - Lead investigations into potential acquisition of new instrument platforms as needed by research teams - Oversee the process lifecycle for new equipment acquisitions, transfers, and decommissions. - Respond promptly to equipment repair requests, performing on-site troubleshooting and repairs when applicable, and contacting vendor when needed - Serve as primary contact for vendor service calls, coordinating preventative maintenance, modifications and installations - Organize scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities with approved service providers - Maintain, manage, and respond to remote temperature monitoring systems during working hours and also after-hours as needed. and existing lab gasses environment with relation to specific instrument platforms
  • Leadership and Collaboration:
  • - Be an integral part of the department’s leadership team, overseeing day-to-day instrumentation operations.  Provide support for  troubleshooting and recovery efforts, including after-hours when necessary - Partner with supply chain to maintain an adequate stock of necessary equipment maintenance supplies, ensuring seamless laboratory operations - Collaborate with IT and finance to efficiently implement new instrumentation platforms and continuously improve on existing ones - Work closely with our R&D teams to investigate and coordinate comprehensive instrument training, either directly or through vendors, ensuring all team members are proficient and well-informed - Specialize and prioritize the instrumentation environment while providing critical guidance and input for overall laboratory operations - Provide expert training on basic equipment monitoring and troubleshooting practices to junior members of the Laboratory Operations team and establish best practice use of our instruments, ensuring a high standard of operational excellence.  

WHO YOU ARE

  • Minimum of 6 + years of hands-on experience in instrumentation, mechanical or engineering roles, with an AA or Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Experience managing equipment in a laboratory environment with high-volume, high-complexity laboratory processes
  • Preferred experience with semi-automated and fully automated research instrumentation platforms
  • Strong knowledge of GLP practices pre
