Job Summary

What You'll Do:
• Conduct activities associated with performance improvement programs, including accurate navigation of Corrective Action Program software.
• Complete all types of corrective action program assignments, including higher level evaluations (Trend, Cause, INPO Event Report (INPO) Evaluations, Effectiveness Reviews), as qualified.
• Lead or participate on self-assessments and benchmarking activities across multiple disciplines and cross-functionally.
• Maintain knowledge of current industry trends in performance and process improvement through networking activities, participation on conference calls, industry meetings, and assessments at other stations.
• Facilitate Engineering Responsible Group Screening (RGS) for daily review of newly initiated Condition Reports.
• Process the items screened in the Engineering RGS in the CAP software
• Interact cross-functionally with all other departments in Initial Screening Committee and Work Assessment Group.
• Three years’ experience in nuclear Performance Improvement and/or Engineering is preferred.

Job Description

Responsible to the assigned supervisor to perform work activities and projects requiring the application of technical knowledge in a safe, cost effective and efficient way.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Coordinates work activities of others within work group, team or those external to the company including contractors, or vendors to complete routine activities.
  • Demonstrates competency in analytical techniques necessary to handle outages/projects/assignments of moderate complexity.
  • Exhibits ability in the use of specifications and standards, codes and regulations in the application of equipment, materials, and tools utilized on the outage/project/assignment.
  • Demonstrates ability to analyze and recommend enhancements to business processes and/or outage/project schedule.
  • Participates in the planning of outages/projects/assignments.
  • Proficient in use of scheduling techniques for budget and planning activities.
  • Demonstrates ability to work beyond routine assignments by solving problems of moderate complexity.
  • Develops, reviews or presents technical reports such as improvement requisitions, studies and analysis, clearly, concisely and effectively.

What We're Looking For:

Nuclear Specialist/ Salary Grade 7 ($87,633 - $109,544):

  • Bachelor degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Business Administration, Biology or Chemistry
  • Or Associate Degree in an engineering discipline from an ABET accredited school with 5 years nuclear experience
  • Or high school diploma / GED with 9 years of experience in the nuclear industry. Typically, a non-degreed engineering position.

    Nuclear Specialist, Senior/ Salary Grade 8 ($98,993 - $128,689):

    • Bachelor degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Business Administration, Biology or Chemistry
    • Or Associate Degree in an engineering discipline from an ABET accredited school with 8 years nuclear experience
    • Or high school diploma / GED with 12 years of experience in the nuclear industry.

    Nuclear Specialist, Staff/ Salary Grade 9 ($116,225 -$151,132):

    • Bachelor degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Business Administration, Biology or Chemistry
    • Or Associate Degree in an engineering discipline from an ABET accredited school with 11 years nuclear experience
    • Or high school diploma / GED with 15 years of experience in the nuclear industry.

    Other Requirements (applies to all levels):

    • Effective writing and verbal communication skills.
    • Broad knowledge of nuclear standards, policies and procedures.
    • Demonstrates problem solving skills.

    Physical Demands:

    • May perform walk downs in plant environment which may include exposure to heat, cold, noise, and radiation exposure. Perform duties that may involve work in hazardous areas and possible radiation exposure within the limits prescribed by the NRC.

    Must establish and maintain a permanent residence within a 45-minute safe drive time to the D.C. Cook Nuclear Power Plant.
