The company is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index. We are currently looking for a Director, U.S. Federal Tax to join our dynamic Tax Team. The position reports to the Sr. Director – U.S. Tax Operations and assists with a wide variety of tax matters, including the preparation and review of all US entities income tax provisions, U.S. tax compliance and audits. The Tax Director mainly supports the U.S. in-house compliance, provision for the interim and year end reporting, projections and work closely with the business on numerous initiatives.
Responsibilities:
• Responsible for the preparation and analysis of the tax provision: interim and year end which includes current provisions, deferred provisions, deferred balance sheet and current tax payable, provision to return true up, effective tax rate reconciliation, uncertain tax positions, valuation allowance, and footnote disclosures.
• Responsible for tax accounts reconciliation and tax asset/liability roll forward analysis to meet the requirement of internal control procedures.
• Manage budget, projection and guidance of the annual effective tax rate forecasts.
• Manage SOX compliance, update the SOX control framework consistent with current operations, and assist to implement new controls when warranted.
• Assist with inquiries from external auditor during interim and year end tax audits.
• Work with cross functional teams to further understand business processes.
• Coordinate the timely preparation and review of all federal US returns (1120, 120F, 1040) to ensure timely filing and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Manage the process of the return preparation. Collect, analyze, and format financial information, work with Finance and Accounting departments to gather information needed to complete all required tax forms and reports.
• Manage tax compliance staff to assist in the collection of data and ensure that the information is properly reviewed to minimize errors. Set deadlines with tax compliance staff for the completion of projects so that sufficient time is available to review information in detail prior to filing with tax authorities.
• Maintain a tax depreciation software database to correctly calculate the Federal and State Depreciation adjustments.
• Preparation and review of estimated tax payments calculations to minimize excess tax payments and liaising with US Treasury department on the payments amount expected and to be executed.
• Investigate and implement tax optimization opportunities and ensure that best practices are employed to be in line with the applicable law and regulations.
• Perform tax research and prepare memorandums and presentations in relation to specific tax projects.
• Responsible for FATCA compliance and maintaining W-8BENE forms and W-9 forms.
• Manage tax provision (OTP) and tax compliance (OIT) software; automate and enhance the provision process to allow for faster and more accurate results while minimizing the risk of human error.
Requirements:
• BA/BS degree in Accounting; CPA or MST (Master Science in Taxation) is strongly preferred
• 10+ years of related tax experience in a multinational corporate environment and/or public accounting preferred
• Possess thorough understanding of IFRS and US GAAP
• Proficient MS Excel skills; knowledge of OneSource Tax Provision, OneSource Income Tax, and SAP are desirable
• Work independently with strong problem solving and analytical skills
• Strong communication skills and contributor to team chemistry
• High attention to detail with ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
• Deep desire to perform with the best practice to enhance internal process and to manage tax risks
• Interested in international travel a plus
• Any second language a plus
