Summary of Department and Position
NRECA’s Human Resources (HR) Department strives to deliver Service Excellence as #oneHR. We work collaboratively to deliver programs and solutions as a caring business partner. We consult, advise and help managers and employees accomplish their goals, while supporting their individual needs. We provide the full scope of HR services and employment life cycle support to ensure we attract, retain and develop the best and brightest people to serve our mission.
We are looking for: A detailed-oriented seasoned benefits professional with a proven track record of effective follow through and time management; a proactive problem solver with strong analytical abilities and a commitment to providing exceptional service to employees; and a strategic thinker collaborating with leadership to ensure benefits offerings align with organizational goals, comply with regulations, and meet the diverse needs of our workforce. Key Responsibilities
Administer NRECA’s employee benefit and wellness programs including retirement, group health, life, and disability plans.
Maintain effective benefit administration processes. Ensure all business processes are designed and administered in compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
Counsel employees regarding benefit programs including retirement planning options, non-routine benefits coverage questions and exceptional needs.
Maintain relationships with benefit vendors.
Participate in benefit surveys to benchmark NRECA’s market competitiveness and assess potential new benefit offerings.
Manage the design and delivery of the overall benefits communication plan. Use various educational methods to encourage plan participants’ understanding and effective leveraging of benefit plan provisions.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or similar field.
8+ years of progressively more responsibility in benefits administration (group health, pension and 401(k) programs)
5+ years’ experience in plan design, plan compliance related issues.
Experience using HRIS system(s) for benefit enrollment and administration.
Excellent communication skills, orally and in writing, across a diverse range of audiences.
Excellent judgment and strategic planning skills.
Ability to travel to some work events.
Preferred Qualifications
Workday and ADP Workforce NOW experience preferred.
SPHR/PHR, SHRM SCP-CP, CEBS, or CBP certification preferred.
Essential Physical Requirements:
The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal and extensive reading.
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
