Essential Duties:  

  • Assist school staff in defining and measuring behavior, understanding the principles of reinforcement, teaching new behavior, implementing strategies for weakening behavior, and identifying antecedents.
  • Work with individual teachers, groups of teachers, and/or the entire staff on issues such as: crisis intervention, learning and collaboration issues, and factors that can affect development and implementation of interventions.
  • Promote highly specialized positive behavior interventions in which “at risk” students thrive.
  • Support school staff by modeling behavior instruction that is explicit, intensive, accelerated, and provides ample practice.
  • Work cooperatively with building administrators to promote positive student behavior by providing professional development that targets research strategies, and modeling of instructional practices to support teachers in their implementation of positive behavior support in their classrooms.
  • Improve student instruction by assisting teachers with distinguishing disruptive student behaviors through modeling positive behavior supports and implementing strategies related to the target behavior.
  • Serve as a consultant to administrators, teachers, and parents.
  • Provide direct support for students transitioning into the school building requiring behavior interventions.
  • Support and strengthen ISS systems.
  • Develop Tier 1, 2, and 3 behavior interventions and strategies focused on restorative interventions.
  • Develop and assist school staff with the implementation of Restorative Behavior Plans, as needed.
  • Plan, train, and support the development and alignment of HCS GAMTSS (Whole Child) system.
  • Assist in planning district and school-level PBIS professional learning. Support the implementation of PBIS.
  • Monitor records and procedures within the local school program for compliance with federal, state, and local rules and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) training and Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification preferred.
  • Experience teaching students with behavior-related issues preferred.
  • Ability to work well with students, parents, staff and community.
  • Ability to work in a classroom and school environment and interact with students and staff.
  • Exceptional integrity, commitment to confidentiality, excellent character, and strong professional reputation. 
  • Ability to abide by the Georgia Professional Standards Code of Ethics for Educators. 
  • Must be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work.  Ability to be present at the physical worksite. 
  • Must perform tasks involving prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting.
  • Must perform routine physical activities such as bending and lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds. 
  • Vision, hearing, written, and verbal communications are essential factors in performing required tasks.
