Description Title: IT Security Specialist IV Location: Boulder, CO Terms: Full-Time Clearance: Qualified candidates must be US citizens and able to obtain a minimum of Public Trust Clearance DescriptionIn this position the ideal candidate will be tasked with ensuring IT Security requirements and compliance in support of NOAA N-Wave's infrastructure systems. This position requires a specific, unique set of skills with minimal supervision. The candidate must have current and thorough knowledge of the organization's data center requirements to conduct IT security assessments. Knowledge of the ESRL Divisions’ technical processes, hardware and software used, and specific tasks, processes, or functions to meet ESRL’s best practice standards are also required to for success in this position. Responsibilities:
- Assist and support the ESRL-DO/IT Chief in project management functions supporting the OAR/ESRL consolidated IT projects.
- Assists with directing complex projects involving the origination, application, and/or analysis of new or innovative techniques and approaches.
- Assist engineers in streamlining processes and procedures to better the overall monitoring, maintenance, analysis and performance optimization of communication networks and infrastructure services in support of N-Wave and the interconnection to all NOAA N-Wave client sites.
- Analyzes technical and performance risk and cost impacts of approaches and solutions to meet the organization’s needs.
- Develops and recommends organization process changes to include new solutions and technologies. May assist with establishing performance and technical standards.
- Provide subject matter expertise on DOC and NOAA information technology policies and procedures.
- Assist with documentation for infrastructure equipment and connections as well as operating procedures, develop quality assurance plans, and monitor mechanisms for delivery of both N-Wave and ESRL-DO IT consolidated services
- Generates and approves project and testing specifications.
- Provides technical leadership, inspiration, and consultation to professional co-workers.
- Minimum Education: BS/BA degree (Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent)
- Prior federal experience working at NOAA or other federal agency
- Strong project management experience
- Experience interpreting NIST SP 800-53 and mapping requirements to Security Plans
- Strong analysis skills
- Excellent communicator – verbal and written, at all
