About the role

The CAT Claims Analyst will report to the Global Head of CAT Reporting / Analysis and support the overall Global CAT claims reporting and governance process. As part of a small central team, this key role will support our annual CAT planning along with quarterly oversight and management of current and prior year CAT events. The individual in this role will provide critical analytical and reporting support, manage live CAT events, and work with adjusters, Managers, and CAT coordinators globally to capture  critical exposure and claims information needed to accurately assess and report on CAT events.

How you will create an impact:

  • Support the Global Head of CAT Reporting / Analysis with maintaining and refreshing the annual CAT plan and preparing critical reports and analysis
  • Contribute to quality control efforts and analysis on the as-is process and engagement for CAT reporting to help identify opportunities to continuously improve efficiencies and output
  • Schedule and coordinate key meetings with Claims colleagues and other stakeholders that are necessary to maintain our key quarterly and annual governance and reporting commitments
  • Work closely with Claims Analytics, Regional claims personnel, and other involved parties to help manage live CAT events, including ensuring that those that are reportable are appropriated labelled and that critical actions and deliverables are captured and reported
  • Support Regional adjusting claims leads as needed with analysis of current and prior year CAT losses and events, and with completing the necessary quarterly reviews and bookings in all reporting platforms
  • Undertake detailed analysis (including market research, as needed) to prepare high quality presentations that assist management in completing a holistic analysis of CAT events, as appropriate for the audience
  • Prepare critical reports and presentations used by the CAT team to communicate with senior management, auditors and other stakeholders involved in the quarterly CAT governance process
  • Independently, and with assistance through various functional partners, track and report on industry and company CAT trends, supporting our commitment to timely and impactful feedback to our stakeholders
  • Complete other tasks as needed to assist with the management of current and prior year CAT reporting

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Sound insurance knowledge, preferred, including experience in working in an active claims, or similar, environment, and an understanding of insurance metrics and financials  
  • Strong critical thinking & problem-solving competency with the ability to trouble shoot and research complex data-oriented problems
  • A high attention to detail in execution, ensuring accuracy in reporting and communications
  • Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to create compelling story tailored for multiple constituents to develop and present clear and concise analysis and recommendations to senior management
  • Able to work as a trusted member of the Global Claims CAT team and role model the behaviours on collaboration, engagement, and effective execution
  • Anticipate, prioritize, and interpret situations that may impede on the business objectives and recommend actions to address including escalation where necessary.
  • Research, compile, analyze and structure data and other reports to a high standard within agreed upon timelines
  • Self-directed with ability to manage and motivate and influence others and seek assistance as required
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills, and the ability to learn and master other utilized IT and reporting tools and systems
