Pediatric Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine Physician [Req#: 674160, Position#: 116541]
UT Southwestern Medical CenterAbout the role
Description
The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Department of Pediatrics, is seeking an outstanding individual to join the Pediatric Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine Division at UT Southwestern and Children’s Health Dallas.
The eligible applicant will join the relatively small but growing Pediatric Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine Division, which typically covers two inpatient services. We round on a dedicated Pediatric Pulmonology floor, as well as provide pulmonary consultation service throughout the hospital. Consultations arise from a large pediatric intensive care, pediatric cardiac intensive care unit, tertiary level NICU, as well as other general and subspecialty areas at Children’s Health Dallas, which is ranked in all the top 10 specialties by US News and World Report. Eligible applicants will also work in outpatient pulmonary clinics at Children’s Health. In addition to general Pulmonary clinics, we have specialty clinics including one of the largest Cystic Fibrosis Centers in the country, high risk asthma, aerodigestive clinics, an integrated sickle cell clinic, neuromuscular clinics, as well as clinics for chronic mechanical ventilation. Lastly, we have a very large sleep program, which includes a 20-bed sleep center split between two campuses. Children’s Health Dallas is the primary pediatric teaching hospital of UT Southwestern and includes all pediatric medical and surgical subspecialties. Participation in the educational program for Pediatric residents, fellows, nurses and medical students is expected. UTSW is one of the world's foremost research institutions with six Nobel laureates, more than any other medical school in the world. Excellent support is available for clinical and basic sciences research for those interested. Training in Sleep Medicine is available, if desired.
Candidates should have a proven record of academic success, as well as a commitment to excellence in patient care and teaching. A basic and/or clinical research background is helpful but not mandatory. Interest in niche conditions such as rare lung disease, pulmonary hypertension, and bronchopulmonary dysplasia is a bonus.
Qualifications
Candidates must be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Texas and must be board eligible or certified in Pediatric Pulmonology.
