Summary: The Accounts Payable Lead possesses a strong background and experience in all accounts payable processing activities. This position has primary responsibility for the oversight of the day to day full cycle function of Accounts Payable. This entails both performing and monitoring the accounts payable function for assigned branches/regions/departments, including invoice processing, invoice verification and the reconciliation of a variety of transactions. Supervises the work of assigned Accounts Payable Specialists.

Schedule: Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm (Hybrid - In Lisle IL office on Tuesdays)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensures the team makes timely payments weekly to vendors.
  • Helps team member’s research, resolve and communicate any discrepancies they might have on a day to day basis.
  • Ensures the team is complying with company policy and guidelines in their day to day processing of invoices and check payments.
  • Maintains all AP and Year End files.
  • Manages all national accounts assigned.
  • Trains new hires/cross trains the team
  • Provide feedback to manager on individual team member performance
  • Identify areas where efficiencies can be attained within SOX guideline.
  • Other projects as assigned.
  • Ensure the team has a even workload.

Experience / Education / Skills

  • A minimum of 3 years of accounts payable experience or an equivalent combination of experience/ education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
  • Experience with Supervising others preferred.
  • Must be familiar with working in a high-volume multi-tasking environment.
  • Excellent Communication skills and good Customer Service Skills
  • Strong organization and analytical skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information in a discreet professional manner.
  • Ability to work with vendors and employees at all levels of the company in a professional manner.
  • Ability to work well within a team orientated environment.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to place a high emphasis on maintaining internal controls for being SOX 404 compliant.
  • Ability to use good judgment and make sound decisions in a logical and rational manner. Is practical and stays cool under pressure.
  • Ability to gather facts and analyze problems in depth to help with problem solving.
  • Ability to teach and train.
