About the role

The basic purpose of position: Provide complete management oversight for assigned areas of responsibility.

Expectation: We expect all Operations Managers to be committed to a high standard of safety, be able to comply with all safety policies/rules and willing to effectively enforce those rules. We expect all managers to employ an "out front" approach to management. Managers should spend as much time as practical away from their desk and out in the work areas training associates, monitoring work practices, checking the quality of work and if needed, assisting in the actual completion of work. The ability and willingness to manage, coach, discipline and develop individual associates and teams are required. We want our Operations Managers to truly understand the challenges faced daily by their associates; we believe the best way to gain such an understanding is by spending time working alongside your associates, not being adverse to getting your hands dirty, talking with your associates. It is our contention that doing this will enhance your ability to take care of your people and our customer.

Requirements:

3+ years experience in Mechanical site operations management

4G welding certification

Experienced leading 10 or more direct reports

Experienced in delivering results through others

Recruiting, hiring, training, retaining, and development of Organizational talent

Management of KPI metrics

Accountability

P&L Management

Hands on leadership

Knowledge and understanding of OSHA, EPA, FRA, and DOT regulations and policies

Commitment to safety

Conflict resolution

Effective communications

Development and implementation of process improvement opportunities

Works effectively under stress

Education Requirements: High School education.

Skills, Licenses, Certification, and/or Special Training:

Must maintain a valid state driver's license if required to operate company equipment.
Meet and maintain all requirements contained in the Conditions of Employment policy.

Physical, Mental & Sensory Requirements:
Ability to travel by all forms of commercial conveyance with some overnight travel;
Ability to frequently work in an outdoor environment, exposed to all weather elements, including extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, and noisy conditions;
Ability to occasionally climb to heights in excess of twenty feet;
Ability to constantly use bending, twisting, walking motions on uneven surfaces throughout the entire work shift to include crouching for periods of time up to 5 minutes;
Ability to occasionally lift above shoulder height a weight of up to 50 pounds;
Ability to occasionally stand for periods of time greater than 2 hours;
Must be able to hear and communicate work or safety instructions spoken in a normal voice;
Ability to communicate telephonically and with two-way radios;
Ability to view and change data on a standard computer;
Ability to simultaneously handle multiple tasks;
Must be able to work independently;
Must be able to properly wear all required Personal Protective Equipment.
