Job Description:

This Senior Principal Compliance Specialist position will have responsibility to support more senior compliance professionals. This position will have a focus on supporting Discover’s Credit Card product line.  This position will have responsibility over the life-cycle of a credit card up until collections.  There is a focus on Regulation Z / TILA related activity in addition to overall compliance program components. This includes issue identification, compliance risks and mitigations in the context of incident reviews and remediation, regulatory change management, business change management, policies, and procedure reviews, and quarterly, monthly and periodic monitoring of first line processes. 

 

Responsible for maintaining and enhancing department or functional units in support of the overall compliance program components. 

Responsibilities

  • Researches and understands regulatory compliance requirements to evaluate whether business policies, procedures, training, systems, processes and controls comply with applicable laws and regulations; and to articulate those risks to stakeholders.

  • Engages with business and risk partners to develop compliant solutions to mitigate and remediate consumer compliance risks; escalates risks appropriately

  • Understands Compliance Management System (CMS) components and the requirements of established CMS programs and promotes a culture of compliance

  • Executes compliance advisory functions within CMS programs

  • Leads identification and assessment of CMS program risks and mitigants

  • Creates and updates status reports of program initiatives, activities, and compliance risks to management and committees.

Minimum Qualifications

At a minimum, here’s what we need from you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Security and Intelligence, Law, Information Technology, Analytics, Finance, or related.

  • 8+ years of experience in Compliance, Law, Risk, Operations, including some people leadership or related.

  • In lieu of education 12+ years of experience in Compliance, Law, Risk, Operations, including some people leadership or related.

Preferred Qualifications

If we had our say, we’d also look for:

  • Master’s degree in business, Security and Intelligence, Law, Information Technology, Analytics, Finance, or related.

  • 10+ years of experience in Compliance, Law, Risk, Operations, including some people leadership or related.

  • JD, CISA, CIPP, CRMP, PMP, RIMS or similar preferred

Compensation:

The base pay for this position generally ranges between $100,500.00 to $170,100.00. Additional incentives may be provided as part of a market competitive total compensation package. Factors, such as but not limited to, geographical location, relevant experience, education, and skill level may impact the pay for this position.
