About Generate:Biomedicines

Generate:Biomedicines is a new kind of therapeutics company – existing at the intersection of machine learning, biological engineering, and medicine – pioneering Generative Biology™ to create breakthrough medicines where novel therapeutics are computationally generated, instead of being discovered. The Company has built a machine learning-powered biomedicines platform with the potential to generate new drugs across a wide range of biologic modalities. This platform represents a potentially fundamental shift in what is possible in the field of biotherapeutic development.

We pursue this audacious vision because we believe in the unique and revolutionary power of generative biology to radically transform the lives of billions, with an outsized opportunity for patients in need. We are seeking collaborative, relentless problem solvers that share our passion for impact to join us!

Generate:Biomedicines was founded in 2018 by Flagship Pioneering and has received nearly $700 million in funding, providing the resources to rapidly scale the organization. The Company has offices in Somerville and Andover, Massachusetts with 300+ employees.

The Role:

The Senior Executive Assistant will provide dedicated, high-level support to the Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) at Generate:Biomedicines and partner closely with members of the Scientific Leadership Team. This role supports a large, complex, and highly technical scientific organization and requires exceptional judgment, executive presence, discretion, and the ability to operate autonomously in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

The Senior Executive Assistant serves as a critical extension of the CSO, enabling effective leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and operational excellence across the scientific organization. This is a non-exempt, office-based role, requiring a regular four to five days per week on-site presence to support real-time collaboration with the CSO and senior scientific leaders.

Here's how you will contribute:

Executive & Strategic Support

  • Provide high-level administrative and operational support to the CSO, including management of complex and fluid calendars, executive communications, and high-impact meetings.
  • Support strategic planning and execution by preparing materials for scientific leadership meetings, cross-functional operating reviews, and Board- or investor-facing discussions.
  • Manage highly confidential, sensitive, and time-critical information with discretion and sound judgment.

Autonomous Execution & Problem Solving

  • Independently manage diverse and competing priorities, ensuring work is completed to a consistently high standard.
  • Anticipate the needs of the CSO and proactively identify opportunities to streamline workflows, improve processes, and address potential issues before they arise.
  • Apply strong problem-solving skills and adaptability in support of a fast-moving scientific organization.

Cross-Functional & Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Serve as a key point of coordination between the CSO, senior scientific leaders, executive leadership, and cross-functional partners.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including research collaborators and senior leaders across the enterprise.
  • Navigate complex, technical, and high-stakes interactions with professionalism, clarity, and executive presence.

Organizational & Project Support

  • Support a large, multi-layered scientific organization, coordinating across research, development, and broader leadership teams.
  • Contribute to enterprise-level initiatives and special projects as needed, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and timelines.

Team Collaboration & Leadership

  • Act as a collaborative member of the Executive Assistant team, partnering with peers to ensure seamless support across the enterprise.
  • Lead by example, modeling best practices in executive administration, communication, and strategic support.

Operational Excellence

  • Accurately and efficiently manage day-to-day activities, including meeting planning, travel arrangements, expense reporting, and coordination across multiple stakeholders.
  • Support candidate interview logistics, including scheduling interviews, coordinating onsite visits, and partnering with Talent and hiring leaders to ensure a seamless candidate experience.
  • Leverage digital tools, data, and technology to enhance efficiency and support informed executive decision-making.
