The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) is seeking a full-time Construction & Field Survey Specialist to join our team in Sundance, Wyoming. This unique opportunity allows you to work in a community that offers a wide range of outdoor activities, including snowmobiling, skiing, camping, fishing, and hunting, all set in the stunning backdrop of the Black Hills and Bear Lodge Mountains.
In this role, you will work under limited supervision, performing tasks essential for formulating recommendations for the preliminary design and construction of highway projects. - Performs various tasks, including surveys, testing, and inspections on preliminary designs and construction of highway projects.
- Observed, monitored, and oversees highway and highway-related construction performed by contractors.
- Field test materials, checks work against specifications, and confers with contractors, engineers, and work crews.
- Responsible for project documentation, pay estimates, and final contract documents.
- Verifies and documents work activities.
- Regularly monitors and inspects work and calculates payment of contractors.
- Maintains crew diaries and logs supporting departmental record-keeping and/or contract administration activities.
- Ensures that materials sampling and testing are performed properly; audits material summaries for QA/QC purpo
